We were six tired travellers badly in need of a cup of tea. When I called Muir Tea Room, Christina said they close at 4.00 pm but she would keep the kitchen open if we reach by 4.15. We did and we had a wonderful...time. Starting with delightful frontage of the white cottage down to the last crumb. First the food - Muir Tea Room is entirely vegan. We chose to have the English tea with scones and cream and preserve, sandwiches, cake, fruit and tea or coffee. The first thing that strikes you is the purity and freshness of the ingredients. The scones were flaky and sumptuous without being dense and without the slightest hint of any fat. The cream was light. The spread on the sandwiches was tangy and fresh, the cucumbers crisp and the butter was also very light. The selection of teas was vast right from the traditional Earl Grey to the chamomile and vanilla infusions. The coffee was hot and refreshing. All these are served with Oats Milk or Coconut Milk or milk of macadamia nuts. So a big thumbs up for the food - both in taste and purity. What added the third dimension to the experience was the ambience. The tea room resembles the drawing room of a typical English Cottage in the English countryside. The colours, the fabrics, the porcelain figurines placed strategically, the fireplace, the crockery and cutlery of finest china and the the coziness and the warmth of the room transports you to another place and another time. Another very likeable feature of Muir Tea Room is that each month they dedicate the tea to English Classics and books. February and March to Alice in Wonderland. So the Tea Room is done up with quotations from the book, Alice’s Frock graces the entrance and the Restroom carries guidelines couched in terms used in the book. Christina informed us that the next theme in line was Jane Austen. All in all a very very delightful experience at a price that this reviewer feels, is very very reasonable . Kudos to Christina and her team! I would certainly like to go back very soonMore

My husband and I went with 3 grandkids ranging from ages 5-11 and his son to an afternoon tea. The theme was Scotland and a secondary holiday theme. I am neither opposed to or a strong advocate of vegan food but I typically can't stand...meat substitute products. I would usually rather have foods be what it is. With a tea, however, there are certain expected items. The vegan cheese, vegan clotted cream and vegan sausage rolls were all wonderful. This was one of the best teas I've ever had and each specific item was thoughtfully prepared. No sense of loss because they were vegan, and a bit lighter and healthier. The kids tea was very similar to the adult tea, although with addition of pbj sandwiches. Many great teas to choose from and an attentive server, who knew the menu inside and out, including level of caffeine. She was vey attentive to the children as well. Very nice and felt special, without being fussy. I was a bit shocked by the price, as we are visiting from the Midwest and all of the prices are shocking to us, but we were quickly charmed by the careful preparation, attentive service and absolute deliciousness of the food and tea. Felt like a good value in addition to a special treat and we went home with leftovers! We look forward to returning and the theme changes so we can enjoy a different experience next time.More

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon high tea here with some friends and family! They were having a special Winter in the Scottish Highlands tea. It was a great way to celebrate the holiday season. This is a vegan tea room, but don't let that deter...you if you are not vegan. Everything was delicious! We each got to pick our own tea, which is pretty standard at tea rooms. The various sandwiches and such were all very good. Each person got a lot of food. Our server was very kind and polite. This place is a bit pricey, but for a special occasion we didn't mind. They DO charge for everything up front when you make your reservation. AND they add the tip in automatically, so you don't have any say in that. (Thank goodness the service was good.) If you don't agree with that practice there's not much you can do about it.More

Wonderful vegan high tea in a beautiful setting. Always a pleasure to visit this place. I am not sure why it is listed as closed.

Brunch and lunch with great selections and seasonal specials and events. Even if you’re not vegan, try it, you won’t miss the meat. Awesome homemade deserts and high tea. Check out their website (being updated). They also offer to go and meatless Monday dinners you...can reserve in advance - delicious and large amount of food. Two of us shared one and it was plenty.More

Friendly and attentive. Old fashioned tea room with outdoor seating. Food is very tasty and all vegan. They are very busy and it took quite awhile for someone to man the cash register so we could pay our bill.

Muir's is a hidden gem. It's a Tea Room, so think "light fare," but everything is superb. We have dined at Muir's many times, and have always been happy. It is romantic, sweet, and friendly. As vegans, it is a relief to walk into a...restaurant and know that everything on the menu is OK to eat... no wondering if the staff doesn't quite understand what "vegan" is. But the food is so good at Muir's that you may wonder how it possibly could be vegan - especially the deliciously decadent desserts! In addition to their regular tea brunch offerings, Muirs is open for special events in honor of various holidays and celebrations that make the owner happy. They have a delightful monthly email outlining the special events of the coming months. And this newsletter is a treasure in and of itself.More

Brought my non vegan friends for high tea and they absolutely loved the food, the lovely Victorian house, the gift shop, the gardens. It’s worth the drive up from Sausalito. What a treat! We ordered the Hope of the World tea service for three—says for...two on the menu but we were easily accommodated—because it gives you a great sampling of all the food. Thanks, Christine!More

My friend asked for her birthday present to try Muir’s Tea Room. It happens that their Tea and Tarot Event was the day we chose to go. Muir’s is a Victorian house nicely decorated to enjoy a nice day having tea and some food. At...our event, we had a Harvest Salad, Roasted Cauliflower Soup, Pumpkin Gnocchi and some wonderful desserts! All along with some good tasting tea of your choosing. This was a special menu for this Event. Our server Annabelle was very professional Knowledgeable and made our first visit to Muir’s Tea Room a very nice experience. We plan on going back for a regular afternoon tea in the future. If you like tea, try Muir’s Tea House. Do make reservations, as they are open Thursday-Saturday, possible Sunday. I hope you enjoy it.More

Such an airy, peaceful cottage (in spite of the Main St traffic). My husband's grilled veggie sandwich was bursting with flavor. And the savory pastie of the day (artichoke, potato and capers) had a wonderful balance of delicate flavors. Topped it off with Muir Woods...Lime Chiffon tea and luscious scones. What a shame that we're only in this area once every seven years or so.More

I went to this tea room with my cousins for a very special lunch. Christine explained everything to us and served us our exceptional lunch and teas. Each morsel was different and delightful! We couldn't decide which item we loved most. We then shopped at...the gift shop within the lovely home and bought some things to bring home. This was a perfect tea and more!More

Muir's Tea Room is literally heaven on Earth. The setting is idyllic and the interior is exquisite; tastefully quirky and unique. Then there's the food itself - words can't describe how visually appealing the presentation is and they definitely aren't adequate enough to fully explain...the subtle and uniquely delicious flavour combinations. Finally, let's mention the owner and the staff at this gem of an eatery - warmly welcoming, superbly informed about dietary needs and offering a personal touch that can't be beaten. Muir's Tea Room set the benchmark for quality food, outstanding service and what it means to create a special setting for guests. Everyone who goes there will be quick to return for more. On our Summer of Love trip we had to return to this place where there is so much to love.More

Somebody pinch me! A quaint, flowery, adorable tea room in a charming little Victorian house with a gorgeous garden and absolutely delicious, delightful vegan food and treats??? Oh yes! This place is vegan FOR THE ANIMALS! They were even hosting a high tea fundraiser for...a local bird sanctuary that day! The pastries and cakes were everything you could dream of with darling frosting decorations and flavor/texture like the best of the best of the real thing! The whimsical gift shop offers a selection of both new and vintage items that look like they came straight out of a Beatrix Potter book. The dining room is light and well appointed with all the trappings you might hope for in a classic tea room. Peering out the huge, double pane windows at the irises, tulips, wisteria and many other blossoms bursting forth in the garden while sipping high quality teas and nibbling second-to-none cakes is enough to draw me up from Oakland on a very regular basis! I can't wait to get there again!More
