This was my second visit to Fern Bar in the past year. My first visit was to try it for dinner with friends as their other restaurant, Peter Lowell's had closed. My expectations was that Fern Bar would offer similar dinner fare. I was totally...wrong. The menu now is small plates; not a huge selection and seems primarily geared to a younger cocktail clientele who want a place to gather, dink and snack on light food. Fern Bar seems to have accomplished that. On this second visit my friends and I went specifically for drinks after a movie and the place was hopping with every table packed with the under thirty crowd. Too noisy for my taste, my group of four adults had to strain to hear one another the table we occupied. Not only is Fern Bar set up to mitigate the noise but had a DJ playing music in the background.More

We went here mainly because one of our favorite musical dios was playing. (Misner and Smith) We were so surprised by the quality of service and the unique food and drink options. We had the best fried chicken ever. These were small nuggets with a...hot sauce crema and some kind of slivered veggies. We also had the fingerling potatoes with chanterelles and a cheesy tarragon sauce. And the steak with abalone mushrooms were incredible too. And then the hand crafted cocktails, unique and flavorful. Highly recommended!More

I loved the cocktails here and you will, too! The food was just okay so I would specify coming here just for drinks and go somewhere else after.

Lovely place, beautiful decor, trendy neighbourhood! Food was good, we shared 3 plates. Cocktails were great. I was very excited about my visit there and shared it a lot on their IG. Why I give a 3? Because of the service, all our waitresses were...acting in a weird way as if we were from another planet. No specific attention, they didn’t propose us a desert! But overall it’s a great destination to try.More

With the Barlow in Sebastopol, we get great shops, breweries, distilleries and now a great bar/restaurant that offers really sophisticated cocktails that could be found in New York City. From the moment you walk in you'll experience a great sense of design and decor, surrounded...by natural plants and ferns of course. Food has a mix of California cuisine with tweaks that keep you interested throughout the meal. Definitely a great variety of meals and all locally sourced and organic. This is a trendy spot in the area and I'm so happy to have it as the menu is extensive so many options for anyone to come over again and again. Kind of a mix of mid-century meets East Coast greenhouse with very good crafted cocktails.More

I am not a foodie; but I like to eat good food. With that in mind, I truly enjoyed Fern Bar. The drinks were not only beautiful, they were good. Both the spirited ones, and the alcohol free. The carrot ginger turmeric shrub drink was...excellent. As far as the food, especially loved the umami, I could eat the every day! The kale salad and the fry bread dish were also terrific. The pickled quail eggs were good, and even better were the spicy greens they were served with. Finally, had to finish it off with the churros with chocolate... so yummy. The live music was just about to start, but unfortunately we had to go... hope to hear them next time as they have live music every night. The atmosphere was comfortable and inventive as well. Really enjoyed our evening and experience; thank you!!More

Really surprised this isn't rated #1 in Sebastapol. Quality of product. Very good service. We had a terrific dinner here. Great choices from veggie to beef and chicken. SUPERB wine and full bar selections. Nothing bad to say about our experience here. And, on a...Memorial Day weekend when everything else in the area still closed early, they were not only open, but offered live music, which was awesome (not over-powering for a fine-dining restaurant) and only enhanced the experience. We all agreed we would return here in a heart-beat. Wonderful evening in Sebastapol!!! ( We had dinner last night at a higher rated restaurant here....this was WAY better.)More
