Although the Vegetarian Valoo as much too spicy ( and I like spicy foods) the Samosa, naan and Valoo was very good. Its walking distance from the Hilton. Please with the take out food. I dont think they provide outdoor seating.

We love the food at this restaurant and have dined at the Scotts Valley and Soquel locations many times over the years. HOWEVER, we were very dismayed at the lack of social distancing precautions and protocol at the SV location last Friday night, 4/17. Only...one or two of the service workers were wearing gloves, no workers were wearing masks, there was no organization when picking up the order, and we had to wait a very, very long time to get the food. You have to go inside the venue to retrieve your food. While one woman with a mask on waited patiently outside the door with plenty of distance from the door, customers without gloves or masks just waltzed right past her, went inside, breathed on everyone's take out order, touching the bags lined up to see which one was theirs, then they came out, went inside again a few minutes later, etc. The restaurant staff really needs to create some rules and protocol during this situation. It was disconcerting, and disappointing when so many other restaurants and shops are trying so hard and have made so many concessions. We won't be going back.More

This really was a disappointment. Let me start by saying that we've eaten at Ambrosia many times, and we've always liked it. I think they have a new chef, and I am NOT impressed. We'd been craving Indian food all week, so, today being pay...day, we decided to run up to Scotts Valley and visit Ambrosia. First we went to order my personal favorite, malai kofta, which we've had there many times before. Fortunately, the waiter asked us "do you want it with the white sauce?" White sauce? Malai kofta is usually served in a rich, red-gold, korma-like gravy. I'm glad he asked us, because if it had come out in a white sauce, I wouldn't have been able to eat it (one of my food aversions). I asked if the regular kofta was available and he said "No, we only make it with white sauce now." Yuk. My guess is he's had other disappointed customers and figured he'd better warn us before bringing out two orders of colorless kofta. So my husband and I went ahead and ordered a couple of different dals instead, and my daughter ordered her beloved butter chicken. I took one bite of one of the dals, and was shocked...no flavor whatsoever! Took a bit of the other, and there was some flavor there, but it was still pretty bland. For the first time in many years of eating and loving Indian food, I had to salt my food (as did my husband). With enough salt, the dals were palatable, but certainly nothing to write home about. The real shocker was my 26-year-old daughter's butter chicken. She loves the stuff, and will usually clean up an order all by herself. She had a small serving, shook her head and said "It's really not very good," and was finished. She grew up on Indian food, and has often had the butter chicken at Ambrosia, so that was even more shocking than bland dal and white kofta. My guess is that it too lacked salt, but I didn't think to suggest that until she'd already gone outside. If it ain't broke, Ambrosia, don't fix it. I suggest firing the new chef, though I doubt we'll be back in any case. A meal there sets us back a pretty penny, and with Mumbai Delight now available in downtown Santa Cruz, there's simply no reason to waste a meal out on a place whose chef can't seem to find the spice cabinet.More

We saw this as we pulled in to the Hilton so walked over for Sunday lunch. For this there is a buffet that has a decent selection of foods, salad and fruit as well as one dessert. The food is kept warm. It’s flavorful and...colorful. Included one drink, wine/champagne or a soft drink. My wife ordered on the menu which produced a sizzling tasty dish of shrimp tandori, alas no included drink. The ambience is nice with many Buddha’s about. The music made us think we were in a spa but allowed easy conversation. Parking is easy in their lot. Many Indian families there in large groups for the brunch. Worth a visit-More

Love this place. Great restaurant for excellent food whenever you get this craving for a good curry! Don’t forget to try the Chana Masala.

Like the other Ambrosia restaurants, wonderful aromas tease your nose as soon as you open the door. My wife had the Coconut Prawns and I had the Mixed Seafood Curry, with bastmati rice and naan of course. Both were heavenly. We opted for single entrees...for a lighter dinner instead of the Thali (combo) dinner (lots of food). This restaurant is convenient to the 17 at Mt. Hermon. We ate dinner here with another couple.More

Very good lunch buffet, with many entree options - both vegetarian and protein. At lunch, there is only the buffet for a set cost, which is reasonable, for the good selection of items. We came here on the recommendation of a friend who loves this...place, and will return.More

Having had several Indian restaurant experiences, this was interesting and given that I went at the end of the day, the staff did not make me feel rushed but welcome. I love saffron rice so ordered extra. Lamb Keema is a go to for me...and this did not disappoint. Service was attentive and great gluten-free options for me with the menu clearly marked for what had gluten.More

Typical Indian buffet. We've been here several times and the dishes change but everything is good. Average taste, not exceptional, but good. One thing however, that has turned me off is, if you come in after two o'clock they warn you that they close at...2:30. Then at 2:25 they come back to your table and basically ask you to leave!! It seems to me that if they want to close at 2:30, and want everyone out, then stop serving at two. But don't disrupt my lunch and conversation with my spouse to do it. It seems very rude to me and the food is not good enough to put up with that.More
