I love this place and keep going back. No matter if it’s a weekday, dinner here always feels like dining at a festive place. Food is always delicious, irrespective of what you order. I keep ordering different pastas, chicken and seafood and they never seem to disappoint. Pizza although could be less drying and could have little more toppings. I will still keep the star for the taste. Panna cotta is really awesome here, and it’s my constant order! Staff is friendly. I recently celebrated a birthday here and dessert was on the house. Ambience is always great and I love how vibrant the restaurant is. On a seperate note, it’s little funny where their restroom is located. You have to come out of the restaurant and take the elevator to go up a floor lol. I did that during a chilly night. We all were shivering while waiting for the elevator. It was fun lol. Remember to carry your jackets to the restroom :). About the location - it’s located at Sausalito downtown at a prime location. Walking distance from the pier and bars, in case you want pre-dinner drinks at a different place. I did that. There is plenty of parking available at 3 min walking distance. Parking is metered and is around $3 per hour. Overall a great place to dine. I would definitely go back!

You will not find a better Italian restaurant anywhere. We spent two weeks in Italy this summer and the dinner we had at Poggio was as authentic as the small trattorias in Milan and Venice. The service was impeccable, Bart gave great recommendations and was the type of server I wish we had at every restaurant. The veal appetizers, the squash appetizer - sublime. The gnudi - similar to gnocchi but much lighter with a short rib ragu was the best meal I’ve had in years. Wonderful atmosphere to boot.

This was selected for outstanding food, and it was excellent. The menu included several obscure Italian wines (one white, one red), reputedly good, and they were. Probably had the best service of any restaurant I have visited. When the waitress was told we wanted to share some appetizers and pasta dishes (before the main course), everything came with separate plates and silverware for everyone. The waitress was attentive; no matter what was wanted or when, she was on it in a few minutes.

I dined at Poggio Trattoria out of convenience. The restaurant was located next door to my hotel. I wanted the fettuccine, but it came with clams and I refrain due to allergies. When I asked the waiter if the clams could be substituted for another protein, he yelled, “Like What?” That should have been my sign to exit. Instead, I changed course and ordered the seared halibut with spinach, butter beans, mushrooms, lemon butter and herbs. Sadly, the meal was beautiful but bland. The halibut was cooked well, but it lacked flavor and the vegetables were grossly undercooked. I have no reason to return.

We walked in for lunch because it looked elegant. That's one of only two things good I have to say about it. There was no lunch menu; we were handed a dinner menu with dinner menu dishes and dinner menu fine dining prices. I had the "minestra" soup which was described as bean based, but it was so intensely flavored up with herbs and spices that the bean flavor was buried. My wife had a pizza. It was listed on the menu as Margherita but none of the characteristics I associate with that name: no mozzarella balls, no fresh tomatoes. It was nothing but an everyday plain pizza with no toppings. What saved my rating as average instead of poor (the second good thing) was a spectacular Caprese salad that had delicious mozzarella and flavorful tomatoes. Service was courteous, decor pleasant.

Four of us stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday just around 11:40 and were told they we not open yet - but people were sitting at a table in the restaurant and at the bar watching the soccer match. Were told we could wait at a table in the bar and we would be seated when they opened in 15-20 minutes. About 15 minutes later the host started seating people coming into the restaurant THEN told us we could be seated. Mind you, it was NOT at all busy and didn't come close to busy the 90 minutes we were there. Took almost 10 minutes before we got water and saw our server to order drinks. Once the food arrived (by food runners), our server never checked in with us to see how things were or if we needed anything. Most of us were out of our drinks and were not offered another. We had to flag him down to get our check. The food was really good - two of us had the butternut squash soup and salads, one had a pizza (which was huge) and the fourth had a pasta dish that he really enjoyed. So, go for the food but don't expect stellar service.

Bad service, they overcharged us and did not accept any of our VISA cards, “advising us” to ask first which cards they accept. And on top of that, the waitress indicated the percentage of tip that we had to leave, which on my part would have been zero. embarrassing treatment

This restaurant is clearly a jam in Sausalito. We were lucky to get reservations on a Friday night. The service from start to finish was wonderful. Our server, mikayla, made recommendations that guided our choices and they were fabulous. We began with stormatino. This is a cauliflower custard that we felt daring to order but we ate with relish! We wanted to try some thing unusual and this was it. For a shared pasta dish we had the tagliatelle. It featured shrimp, cilantro, basil in a pink sauce. We ordered the pane a woodfired artisan bread to go with it. Needless to say, the bread was used to soak up all of the sauce from the pasta. For dessert we ordered a hot chocolate molten cake with cinnamon ice cream that was heavenly. We would try to go back to the restaurant again tonight but feel like we need to have a different experience with just two nights in Sausalito and so many restaurants to choose from.

This was my 2nd time coming to this Resturant. My wife & I made reservation for our anniversary. I am very happy with our choice, it reminds me of old Italian Restirant with strong character. Reservation was very easy. We arrived and out table was ready. Very nice charming environment. Our waitress was very nice and it seems she was there for long time and she knew the dishes very well Service was great and quick, all staffs were well trained. We had wine and few appetizers, salad and it was all great. The main dish “pasta & shrimp” was excellent, pasta was great, the creamy tomatoes sauce just really got and it couldn’t be better than this. I enjoyed our anniversary at this great place. Bravo and we will come back for sure. Thank you

We ate here on an afternoon with our family of 11 and the server was very rude and acted like it was an inconvenience if we asked any questions about menu or requested items for the table like sugar or salt. The food was overpriced and IS NOT MICHELIN quality. Please avoid this trap if possible.

Overall we felt this was a good restaurant. It provided a nice service and ambiance was amazing. Decorated beautifully for the holiday season. We had meatballs and prosciutto for starters both were good. My husband had pizza which he said was really tasty and it looked good. I opted for the papadelle with ragu, while the pasta was great the sauce was lacking and quite tasteless to be honest which was disappointing. We would recommend this restaurant but I’d probably not order the papadelle again to be honest.

I love this restaurant and go here 3 or 4 times a year. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The wait staff are adults who know their craft and the menu and have never steered me wrong. The food is outstanding! The drinks and wine list are excellent. I've seen a few reviews that were critical of the serving sizes. Some of the dishes can be a little small but overall they are very reasonable. Ask your waiter if you're concerned. I love the Halibut but it tends to be a bit smaller so I get a side to help out. I'm 6/4", 210 lbs and I don't find it a huge problem. It's an interesting mix of tourists and locals and a very inviting atmosphere. Most of Sausalito's restaurants are geared towards tourists: expensive and mediocre. That is not the case with Poggio: great food and reasonable for the quality.

Poggio offers a wide arrange of Northern Italian fare. My wife ordered a pizza. Quite flavorful but a bit salty for my taste. I had the confit leg of duck salad. An amazing combination of salad ingredients including pistachios, radishes, pluots and other things that just worked so well with the crispy yet tender duck. Good wine list, too.

Great food and great service! I had the Pappardelle and my wife had the Spaghetti (Carbonara). Perfect pasta. The Pane was a bit over done - so next time we visit we will try the flat bread (Schiacciata). The house Cabernet is very good with dinner and for dessert I had black coffee, also very good. Last October I had the “Gnudi” and it was very very good.
