We had a late flight back out of San Francisco, so decided to take a short side trip Sausalito. It was lunch time but we had a full car of luggage so we needed to find a restaurant where we could see our car. Well...some luck gave us a spot across the street from Poggio. First the Host and Hostess were gracious and found us a table outside where we could see the car. We both decided on Pizza, and while my wife had a simple Margharita, I went with the Vegetable Pizza. Well this was the best vegetable pizza I have ever had. Not only tomatoes and onions, but peppers, and pieces of Garlic. They were also big and we could have shared although both of us had no trouble finishing them. We did skip desert but certainly made the rest of our drive to the airport relaxing and satiated.More

My wife and I made a reservation last week for an outdoor table, and indicated that it was a birthday event. We were shown immediately to our table. Water and menus arrived, and we sat there for 20 minutes. checking out the menu. Another couple...arrived after 10 minutes, and a waiter finally arrived to take their order. I tapped him on the shoulder, and asked if he could take our order. He said that he was not our waiter even though the tables were essentially next to each other. After another five minutes a waiter arrived. I suggested that we order everything at once ( drinks, first course second course , wine) except for dessert. Our drinks arrived, and I said that it would be a good idea if he brought our wine with the food. Our first and second courses arrived in a reasonable time. The wine did not. After finishing most of my second course, I got up and advised the guy at the check in desk that I was waiting of my wine. It arrived immediately. The food (duck confit salad, beef moi pasta ma femme) was really good. I have eaten here several times, and the food has always been inventive and very well prepared. My best guess is that the plague has created employment issues, fewer and less competent waiters.More

Located on Bridgeway along the waterfront street in Sausalito, CA POGGIO TRATTORIA is a particularly EXCEPTIONAL Italian restaurant!! On a recent sunny June day, our group enjoyed a delightful, delicious lunch: Cocktails VERY good - Margarita, & a Bellini Margherita pizza - MUST TRY delicious...over fresh pizza - YUM !!! Meatball appetizer - good Pork Chop and roasted potatoes - very good Tagliatelle and rock shrimp - MOUTHWATERING MUST TRY DELICIOUS!!! - light creamy tomato sauce, house-made tagliatelle, & melt-in-your-mouth rock shrimp - - all served piping hot!! We did not save room for dessert, but whenever we return to Sausalito, we would DEFINITELY RETURN to POGGIO!!!More

This was my 2nd time coming to this Resturant. My wife & I made reservation for our anniversary. I am very happy with our choice, it reminds me of old Italian Restirant with strong character. Reservation was very easy. We arrived and out table was...ready. Very nice charming environment. Our waitress was very nice and it seems she was there for long time and she knew the dishes very well Service was great and quick, all staffs were well trained. We had wine and few appetizers, salad and it was all great. The main dish “pasta & shrimp” was excellent, pasta was great, the creamy tomatoes sauce just really got and it couldn’t be better than this. I enjoyed our anniversary at this great place. This restaurant has really good Italian food, and in past years was featured on a lot of best restaurant lists in the Bay Area. For some reason, it hasn't appeared lately, but the food is creative and good. It's pricey, and there is no water...view. However, the sidewalk tables are great for people watching. Locals often eat here, maybe because the majority of Sausalito tourists are day trippers looking for an ice cream cone, or a piece of pizza, not higher end food. It's ok to bring a dog if the diners are seated outside.More

I have never been so impressed with a restaurant. Nice atmosphere and exceptional food for a reasonable price. We will go back.

Amazing seafood in Sausalito downtown. Make reservations as it gets booked fast. Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful. Best halibut and panna-cotta that you could get around here. They also have conference rooms for business setting. I would be going there again!!!!

Three or more times I have either invited or been invited to Poggio's. On every visit, the waiters have been very helpful with the changing menu, served the food, and have disappeared at the right time. Then when you need them they reappear! I always...order something from the fish menu. Classic recipes make ordering easier. Ask, "What's fresh?"More

We ate here because torrential rains knocked out power in much of Sausalito including at the restaurant we had planned to visit and after visiting, we can understand why tables were available at the last minute. The host was welcoming and the arancini (risotto ball)...we shared to start was good but everything else was better forgotten. We had the papardelle but the ragu was like soup. The dish didn’t work and was almost tasteless. The only way it could be eaten was to eat the papardelle with a fork and eat the sauce separately with a spoon- once we managed to get one because after taking our order, our server disappeared until asking if we wanted dessert. He spent his time flirting with the guests at a large table in the next room. We would have been better had he never come back and we skipped dessert.The gelato served with the chocolate cake was tasty but the cake was cold and stale. All in all, dinner was overpriced and unpleasant. Also, it isn’t noted on the online menu but be aware that there is a 4% charge added to checks noted as “California wage and benefit mandate” which isn’t a legally mandated charge but a way of passing on staff costs. Poggio is in a good location but that is about all it had going it.More

We go to Sausalito often for years and have always wanted to try Poggio cause it looks so nice, but for some reason just hadn't. So we did and were sorry we did. Our waitress was very nice and the setting is beautiful. The food...however was way below average for a nice restaurant, My highly recommend from our waitress, marinaded 3 days pork chop, which I ordered medium, was WAY overcooked and kinda tasteless, as well as everything on the plate. Nothing stood out as really good. I forget what my wife got, but I think it was the chicken and same thing. Looked good on the plate, no bueno on the palate. Dry and tasteless.More

I ambience at Posey it was very elegant and is the reason we selected this place for our 20 year anniversary dinner. It is right next-door to Casa Madrona which is where we were staying. The wait staff couldn’t have been more lovely. They made...us feel special as we celebrated our anniversary and even brought out a glass of champagne for each of us on the house. The food was good and what you would expect for an upscale Italian restaurant. We would definitely go back!More
