My friend had been at The Trident before and we came for lunch. It was a very hot day in October and we needed something light and cold; we were seated outside (which we had asked for); service was ok; we both ordered the Bay Shrimp Wedge, which was very good, but for the price ($ 25.00) rather small. If I ever make it back to Sausalito, I would give it another try and try one of the hot dishes.

Hello, Susan: Thank you for your positive review of a recent experience at The Trident in Sausalito. My apologies that the service was not excellent, and I am sorry that you thought the portion on your Bay Shrimp Wedge was small - our spec is for 1/3 of a head of iceberg lettuce, 1/2 pound of Bay Shrimp, Hobb's Applewood smoked bacon, cherry tomatoes, and Pt Reyes Blue Cheese dressing and crumbles...all high quality items whose cost justifies our menu price. Did you not get all of the above? Rick Enos, GM

A lunch stop in Sausalito was part of a half day trip to Muir Woods.I chose The Trident because it had a burger and seating on the water. The hostess was very accommodating letting me pick my seat and even adjusting the umbrella so I wasn't in the sun. The burger and truffle fries were very good and tasty, and my mojito was also yummy. The views were amazing as well!

First time in Sausalito and we had the pleasure of finding this wonderful restaurant to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived, we were told there was a wait time of 30 mins. Very kindly we were offered the drink menu and a table to wait while ours was ready. We asked for a table on the terrace which has a beautiful view of the bay. To our surprise, we were still deciding on the drinks and were told that a table was ready for us. ( We had tried the restaurant next door Scomas, which I advise you to stir clear of, for they have no idea how to treat a customer. The hostess very rudely said there was no room on the terrace and if we wanted to go on the waiting list to dine it would be another hour and 30 mins.) Thank God they didn't have room this way we had the opportunity to be treated very professionally like true guests, at The Trident. Our waiter Carlos, really must love his profession for he makes a person really feel welcome. Thank you for the wonderful service. We ordered the Ceviche for appetizers and sparkling wine. The Ceviche was very well prepared and delicious. For entrees, we had the Seafood platter with vegetables and mashed potatoes, and the fish tacos. The food was all so fresh and exquisite. Definitely the place to go if you appreciate good food and wonderful service.

In a weekend I visited Trident for lunch and used the valet parking service upon arrival. The food was satisfactory, the service was good, and the scenery was beautiful. However, after my meal, I discovered my car was damaged. Over two months of communication, the valet service denied responsibility, and repair cost was estimated around $4,000. I contacted the restaurant three times for assistance but received no response. As a result, I brought the matter to small claims court. Overall, this led me to give a one-star rating due to the high overall cost of the lunch and the unresolved damage issue.

Formerly a Sausalito icon, now leaning heavily into its location as a tourist destination. Skip it. The staff is poorly trained, the food is average, and the management is indifferent. Anyone who travels is familiar with the phenomenon of restaurants that stay in business because of a killer location: that’s the Trident. There’s not much else to recommend it over other waterfront restaurants in Sausalito. Why do a good job when the ferry keeps disgorging tourists who don’t know any better that you can overcharge for mediocre food?

Terrible on top of being overpriced. We made a reservation a month in advance for a window seat which we confirmed earlier in the week. Didn't get that table. Waited 20 minutes for a server to come our table and finally got up and asked for one. Ordered 3 drinks and calamari. Took another 20 minutes to get our drinks, calamari arrived cold 10 minutes after that. Had to ask for server again to order meals. Soups took 20 minutes to arrive meals another 20-30 after that. Both prime ribs were ordered medium rare both came well done. I ordered the bib lettuce salad as my meal. So much vinegar was on it, it made your tongue pucker. Server took meals back to kitchen but at that point we were done with this place. My husband spoke to the manager telling him to just cancel the prime rib dinners which were $45 each. Manager got mad and made excuses that they were busy. At that point the restaurant was half empty. After paying $200 for the food/drinks we had you then go outside and have to pay hourly for the valet! Run away from this place.

The location of the Trident on a nice day cannot be beat. Right on the bay with spectacular views of San Francisco. The service was fantastic as were the drinks. The food was good ... not mind blowing but good. I had the fish tacos, the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. I think they need a little jazzing up with some spices but with the squeeze of lime and a little salt I thought they were enjoyable. With the amazing fews, the wind off the water and nice sunny day ... the food doesn't have to be spectacular as long as it is tasty and good which the Trident was.

Hello, Jason: Thank you for your positive review of a recent experience at The Trident. You nailed exactly what we want to be, although, I would put a few of our fresh fish items and our steaks/chops up against anyone's specialty items. In two weeks when we introduce our SUMMER 2023 menu, we will have a couple of pastas that fit that mold as well. I hope to see you again soon... Rick Enos, GM

This is a restaurant with a colorful history and one that I enjoyed visiting in its heyday of rock and roll and The Kingston Trio. Today, however, it did not live up to anything other than an expensive tourist trap of poorly prepared food. Dry, tasteless cheeseburger and wilted salad with a strident dressing. My daughter ordered the spinach salad that are with equally wilted lumps of spinach, tasteless dressing and unattractive presentation. Overpriced, as well. I would not recommend this restaurant to tourists or locals except to perhaps visit and enjoy the gorgeous Bay view and colorful memorabilia from Sausalito's hippy past!

Food was not that great, service was very friendly but not attentive, and invisible at time 1. Cindy the greeter was wonderful! Coming in and leaving, just as perfectly friendly as you could want! The best! The waiter was very personable and friendly. That was nice too! 2. My girlfriend ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail but only ate 2 of the 5. That begs a question that should have been asked by the server. Is there a problem with the selection? What can we do to fix it? A solution was possible, the cocktail sauce with more kick, or bring some horseradish, and it would have been fixed. But she was never asked. 3. The fish and chips I ordered were just ok. The chips were GREAT, very hot and tasty! The slaw was not good really at all. The fish… meh… I was disappointed. That being said, I was ok with my meal. Likely wouldn’t do it again or maybe I would to see if ti was a fluke, but it was ok. 4. My girlfriend ordered a fillet and was very clear in saying between medium and medium well. She said medium with a push; she doesn’t mind a little pink. When the fillet came, it was mid rare… and you know what? It happens… it would not have been much of a problem but the server never once asked if it was correct and if not, how it could be remedied. These problems could have been remedied, but the server never asked. We sat for 15-20 minutes after we were done and had to ask a passing staff member to locate our server to let them know we were ready for the check. Even after we asked, when he came out the door to the outside he went to another table first. Not attentive!

The absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. We’re going to have lunch and was accosted by the valet person about how much it would be to lock out bikes. No sign posted. I asked for a manager and he said if I was going to create problems then we should leave. My mistake taking our bikes vs our bmw on a free ferry day from sf. Will never visit this mediocre establishment again.

Went here for an anniversary lunch for the first time ever and had a terrific experience. We got seated on the outdoor patio right on the water, which was an unbeatable view on a beautiful day. My wife’s Manhattan was terrifically balanced and approachable even for someone who only occasionally drinks Bourbon. The clam chowder was loaded with seafood flavor and rich without being thick and heavy. My fish tacos were cooked perfectly and my wife’s seafood linguine was chock full of seafood and enough for two meals. The staff surprised us with a creme brûlée with fresh berries for dessert, which was surprisingly light but perfect to round out the meal. Great food, attentive service, and beautiful sights.

The seating outside gives you a magnificent view of the bay and San Fran. Our server was, very friendly and informative. The food was a scam..They list Louie salads..Dungeness crab, shrimp and a combo. We got the combo and the crab was, very salty, mushy and tasted liked it was canned..how awful for a area known for Dungeness crab salads. The shrimp were 1 scrimp cut lengthwise into 2 pieces..what a disappointment

Excellent service, best ocean view, amazing food,. reasonable prices. We stopped at Sausalito on our way back from Muir woods. We wanted to taste the local crab as it is so highly recommended. So we saw the restaurant right on the sea front. So we walked right in. We were shown to our seats right away. The Cioppino caught our eye. A huge bowl with half crab, shrimp, calamari, clams, fish and a lot more and only for $48. Not that expensive for such a dish. Highly recommended. Service excellent. This will be a dish i will keep talking for the rest of mylife.

Our waiter, Cuauhtemoc, was not friendly and kind of rude actually. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with salad. I got fries instead of salad and the chicken looked like dark meat and was about 1/4 inch thick. It was dry and Not good. No refill offer on the iced tea. However, the view was spectacular. The service was terrible. The restaurant took 20% for the tip automatically. We would Never have left 20% for crappy service and mediocre food.

We've gone here quite a few times in the past and always been happy. Perhaps they are having staffing issues, like many restaurants. Server was definitely stretched too thin so this wasn't her fault but it took a lot longer than usual to get service. The lobster roll is usually very delicious but last night the bun was over toasted and dry and the filling was tasteless. The chicken in the chicken sandwich was definitely pre-cooked and warmed up so it was dry and tasteless. NOT our normal experience and the prices have definitely gone up. Valet parking is $6/hour! VERY nice view, however.
