La Gare French restaurant has been a local favorite for almost 40 years and two generations . Serving old world classic French cuisine by using fresh local ingredients, they pride themselves on still including soup and salad with every entree. Known for their table side carte service and escargot, Le Gare was voted most romantic restaurant by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Ordered for takeout during Covid. Food was ready as promised and absolutely delicious!!!! Lady I dealt with on the phone was exceedingly polite, and pick up sevice was quick and easy. Can't recommend highly enough!!!!
Outdoor seating in an alley that is exactly as it is in europe. Waiters that are very attentive and know their menu. The menu was solid France but more on the winter side which was a bit troubling with 102 degree weather but the alley...had a nice breeze and the food was presented and prepared so well that I was a very happy person. We started with frog legs and they were moist, succulent and delicious. The meal came with the soup of the day which was potatoe leek and it was also delicious with a lighter broth and bright flavors of onions and cream. I had the veal with mustard sauce which was moist, hot and totally satisfying. My wife had sole almandine which was HOT and flavorful. We finished with a cheesecake and fresh fruit. I had questions about the wines and I was brought some samples to taste before making my final decision. I very nice experience.More

So Happy You Enjoyed! We hope to see you again in the near future!
We were so impressed with the food and service here. We ate here during COVID so all seating is outside in the alley.
The food is just like in France. The salad that comes with the meal is the same salad we’ve eaten many times...in France, they nailed it. Our waiter was the best. He was so professional, courteous, prompt and personable.More
Upon recommendation we dined here for supper. The greeting was gracious, the food absolutely wonderful (who serves soup AND salad with entrees anymore, La Gare does!). Our server, Linda, hardly knew we were her table. She took our order, brought our glasses of wine and...our food. She did not engage us at all. After our plates arrived, we did not see her again until the bill arrived. She did not ask if we wanted another glass of wine, we asked the young lady who was busing our table for that. We also had to ask her for coffee and a dessert menu. Linda, where are you??More
Nothing bad, but it just felt like a stodgy place that old folks would like. Our friends are an older couple and they remember it fondly from years ago, and they loved it, but for us it was nothing special: expensive and felt a bit...- well, not exactly pretentious, but "old and tired". Maybe that's the better phrase.More
Enjoyed it as always. The French food in this establishment is very good. I knew the original owners, very dedicated people. The standards are not always the same but continues to be some of the finest French food in Sonoma County. A great place for...a romantic occurrence such as engagements etc. Good place for making up with a relationship. Very fine service.More
We love this restaurant. We come through Santa Rosa on our way north and always stop here. This time had the salmon and the pork special. We both loved our meals and to make it extra special we had Cote as our server. He was...wonderful and was helped by Angelina who was equally as wonderful. They made our visit extra special due to their helpful and friendly personalities. We give it 5 stars.More
