I have the pleasure of dining here once a year as part of a annual girls trip from the east coast and they always bring their A game! We stop here for dinner on our first night into town. Kristina is usually our server and...she's been there for years. She is a true asset to this restaurant! I visited last week and started with the escargot and then on to the duck confit. Everything was absolutely perfect- the wine- the ambiance- the service and the amazing food. I had a group of nine ladies on this particular visit and Kristina nailed it! As always, everyone raved about Kristina and their food! Thank you, Walter Hansel Bistro! See you guys on the next visit.More

Even in Covid, this is still the best dining in the Russian River/Sebastapol area. Every dish is remarkable; with each detail from accompanied garnish to plating, thought out to perfection. The food is elegant, yet the environment is relaxed. Covid or not, this is a...must stop for anyone who appreciates the finer aspects of food (and wine of course).More

I was a bit nervous when we arrived during Covid-19 and sat outside. The setting right next to a busy road and the bare wooden tables made me wonder whether I had made a mistake. Then the waitress recommended a French wine for us to...have for our meals when we are in Sonoma???!!! That turned me off for a minute. But when the food arrived I was very pleased. Food was very well executed. Prices are very reasonable for quality of food!More

The lamb, the fish, the oyster shooters, this restaurant must be where the locals dine. I wish I lived in Santa Rosa because this place would be a regular stop,

The exterior does not reflect the inner ambiance. The food was excellent. The bibb lettuce salad was one of the best I have ever eaten. The service was also very good. Friendly helpful staff and a wonderful meal--doesn't get any better!

Inside this unassuming building on an unremarkable road is some of the best locally sourced food and wine in Sonoma County. My family uses this as our special occasion restaurant. Birthdays, anniversaries, VIP visitors, etc.

We were here for Valentines Dinner. Seated quickly with a very nice server. We explained the food allergies and ordered Lobster Bisque, Scallop Risotto, Duck, all were outstanding. After dinner we were full and didn’t want dessert. We ordered coffee and our server brought complimentary...after dinner drinks of Amarula Cream. Very thoughtful but unfortunately Amarula is a nut and we had two serious nut allergies at the table. Obviously our server and the establishment didn’t know what they were serving. Luckily, I was familiar with the drink and the two of us with allergies didn’t drink any. Always double check if you have concerns!More

This is a bit of a drive on a very unexciting part of the county but SO WORTH IT. We're very jaded about SF and Bay Area dining so this was just a wonderful surprise. The restaurant is small and quaint. Our server was blazingly...welcoming, knowledgeable and charming, and great to chat with on a quiet Sunday night. Food was fabulous- I feel like I need to repeat that- generously portioned, robustly flavored, unpretentious. We ordered champagne, two glasses of WH pinot and two WH chardonnays. Left a lot of it on the table, but worth it to try the different vineyards. I'm not a chardonnay drinker but these are world class.More
