I visited this little bistro with some friends for restaurant week. We did their Prix-fixe menu. It was nice. But, I might go again and try a regular menu choice, as the restaurant week choices were just ok. My friends were raving about this place,...More

The food is front and center; delicately prepared and delicious. It is well flavored--subtle when it needs to be; intense when it should be. We are repeat customers (over 20 visits) and if, on that rare occasion, something isn't up to perfection, the kitchen makes...More

We stayed near Santa Rosa and I perused the Trip Advisor top restaurant listing and found this great French bistro. While the front and neighborhood are not terribly appealing, once inside you'll enjoy great food and service. I thoroughly enjoyed their Cassoulet.

For our first night on our wine-tasting trip, my wife picked Bistro 29 for dinner - based mainly on the good reviews. We reserved a table ahead of time (since it was a Saturday night), but they weren't busy when we arrived. Bistro 29 is...More

Our dinner was fantastic. I had the fixed price meal for $34; a generous serving of perfectly cooked fresh salmon on a bed of lentils with crunchy tasty vegetables and a delicious subtle and interesting mustard sauce. The accompanying 2 wine choices were delicious and...More

Don't waste your time. The food was terrible. Our waitress was a bitter woman with a dark, omnipresent cloud attached to her. Wine list was anemic and unimpressive. The best thing about this restaurant was discovering the sports bar across the street.

Went with friends and the service and food was very good. Excellent wine list and very friendly service in a pleasant comfortable environment. I had the special halibut entree which was delicious.

Please don't tell the tourists! As a local, Bistro 29 is our slice of casual French cuisine heaven hidden from the madding wine country visitor crowd. It's where we go for steak frites, cassoulet, no-nonsense duck confit and other bistro classics served in a warm...More

Maybe our expectations were too high given the good reviews, or it wasn't a good night, but Bistro 29 was a let down. We took our son in law here for his birthday after his recent trip to France, and neither he nor the food...More

Craft micro breweries exist all over the County - there are plenty of really good choices; their food tends toward pub style and can be quite good. Bistro 29 is a French Bistro where wine is the adult beverage of choice.

Bistro 29 located in downtown Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. Bistro 29 is a traditional bistro specializing in “Breton” regional cuisine. The number 29 comes from the department of Finistère (end of the earth) located in the upper tip of north-west France. Known for the Galette de blé noir (traditional buckwheat crêpe) and sweet crêpes, Bretagne also uses a variety of local seafood and produce that can easily be found in and around northern California.
