I was going to take a few pictures of the plates but the children started gobbling it up before I managed to take any. The burritos were well stuffed and delicious! Fajita had a load of different veggies not just the basic pepper and onion. Overall we were well pleased!the guacamole was fantastic and fresh.

El Texate has the best selection and taste of moles I've had. For those who prefer more standard fare, they have tacos, fajitas, and burritos. If you prefer to take a leap and try out some of their mole dishes, I would definitely recommend it. We tried a variety of options and weren't disappointed. The décor is basic and humble... More

Was looking for Mexican food and saw El Texate on the map. Walked up the two blocks form the beach path and found a decent restaurant. Happy hour was still on so I ordered from that menu. The El Texate Quesadilla was awesome. Also added on a small order of chips and salsa and those were awesome too. Great salsa.... More

Was very busy night, we sat outside and it took us 25 min and we had to end up asking before someone took our order another 15 before our drinks arrived and they forgot mine and another 15 min after that before our food came. My husband thought his was OK but my burrito was only lukewarm and not nice.... More

Ordered enchiladas that had a straight out of the can flavor, with bottled sauce. I was surprised, since the menu and decor led me to think authentic flavors.

Interesting place. Doesn't look like much in or outside, but the food was decent. Liked that it was a locally owned authentic restaurant. Five of us, each had different entrees. The chips were great. The salas was different. Had an oily texture. Service was alittle slow. Weren't many people there when we arrived, but the time we left it was... More

A person at the hotel recommended El Tecate and so glad they did. Great Mexican food, I loved the goat meat tacos. The service was very good and so where the margaritas. Good place for Mexican food done right.

walked here while waiting on our room, food was excellent and they even offered to have the baseball game on for us the next day if we came back.

After seeing good reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, we decided to give it a try. Perhaps real Mexican food is an acquired taste for people reared on Tex-Mex grub, but this was a let-down starting with the Mole Negro sauce which we were told was a house specialty. Even accounting for the differences in Mexican and Tex-Mex food, many of... More

El Texate was highly rated on TripAdvisor and Google for my neighbourhood, so I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Perhaps their specialty Mexican fare is an acquired taste for someone raised on Tex-Mex. But, even accounting for that, the chicken and vegetables in some of the dishes seemed undercooked.... More
