Interesting restaurant. First, a sound 4-star location. The outdoor seating is quite classic and strongly recommended. Indoors is a 1960s throwback and completely different in theme. Food was generous and well prepared. Service was attentive, and prices reasonable. Location is across from the Santa Monica airport, and the occasional plane adds ambiance. Recommended.

Spitfire Grill is casual and the food is always good. It is a go to place for breakfasts...and the fish and chips are excellent. Pleasant to eat inside or out. Located at the Santa Monica Airport...historic building.

You are here b/c you like breakfast. Even on a Saturday morning, it's not very crowded- unless there is some sort of event going on at the airport. I've had some of eggs benedict dishes, but they will vary and serve them scrambled (like I get them). Prices are not cheap, nor are they exorbitant; but the eats are good.... More

We had lunch sat out on the patio. The food was good and the service very attentive. Really good value. My husband reckoned that the only way that they could improve it was to put it on the other side of the road so that he could watch all of the planes coming and going from the airport!

Went for dinner. Polite staff. Not really listening to you. Fancied a root beer - only draft on offer - - till you ask if they have any bottled.........(yes we do.....) food was heavy. Good portions. Should have ordered the salad. Near the airport if that is the location you need. It's dark and a bit shabby on first appearance.... More

Had lunch here with my wife and daughter. I had the steak salad and my wife had the ahi tuna salad. My salad was very good. Fresh and steak done perfectly. My wife, on the other hand, had a salad with raw tuna. She ordered it medium and it came out not even eatable. She sent it back to have... More

We left a busy day at Venice Beach to grab a bite with friends. This was a fabulous choice! We sat outside, which is across the street from a soccer field (fun vibe). The menu has something for everyone. My kids ages 10 and 11 loved the Mac and cheese. Happy hour had some nice drink and food specials. Thanks for... More

We have been to Spitfire many times over the years as it is not too far from our house in Mar Vista, The place is well known to locals and pilots as it is across from the SM Airport. Breakfasts are excellent and very good value but always slow to show up and eggs usually not so warm when they... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
