Good thing is that they place families with children separately from families without children. I don't know how to explain it, but almost any fast food place in Downtown LA during Mo-Fr lunch has better dressed people than Benihana in Santa Monica on weekday evening. There were people in white t-shirts, wearing baseball caps while sitting at the table. Our... More

I've gone to lunch here a few times and love the food, which is fresh and scrumptious. It's fun to watch how the food is prepared on a grill in front of you! I always get great service from the wait staff.

Love this restaurant, been going to various locations for the last 30+ years and this one is a good one! Service is excellent just like at all the other ones! If you have never been to one you have to try it, a little price but the Cook's put on a great show as they cook your food and the... More

Went for an early birthday dinner and was treated like crap. Was told there would be a 20 min wait and after waiting an hour and seeing many people seated who came after me i was not happy. The young immature people at the front forgot to even write my name down and said it would now be at least... More

I visited Benihana in May 2016, the food is fresh and cooked in front of you just the way you like. Our cook was very funny he amused us with a light show, a volcano with lava and knives show. The service was fast and great . I liked our server she was courteous and funny.i will definitely go back.

We have been eating at Benihana's for many years now. It is a bit pricey, but the fun and the presentation (they grill the food right in front of you and they make it into a show). The only negative is - it is a bit noisy, but a great family place for the kids.

Great place to eat. If you already been to a grill seating (with the cooker show with knifes), skip it and go upstairs where you can have the same food and will pay much less. Excellent food and excellent service. My family just loved it.

We have been to other Benihana's, but first time to Santa Monica. A little slow for the Teppan Chef to arrive. I think we were seated for over 2 hours. Food was good and Chef Sergio was very good. Not as smoky (from cooking) and more space between tables than the other two Benihana's I have been too. Enjoyable experience...for... More

The family likes Benihana for special occasions, such as birthdays. (I think it is requirement to get in the door to be there for a special occasion.) Reason for my downgrade after multiple visits? Three thimgs. 1. The onion soup recipe has changed, and not for the better. Now it is just flavored water with bits of tofu floating in... More
