We had a late breakfast here before we left Santa Monica. The server was really helpful and did tell us they could do child portions for the kids for the pancakes as there is a lot of food. The kids enjoyed the waffles and the pancakes. I had a simple yoghurt and fruit platter which was great. It's a nice... More

Stopped in for lunch and were seated right away. Mimosas were suggested, and although they were good, $15 seemed pricey. Our entrees were quite enjoyable . Really enjoyed my chicken club on toasted sourdough. The fish and chips seemed like a very small portion, but tasted good. Side salad was just a spring mix with a miniscule amout of dressing... Since I was staying at the hotel, I had both lunch and dinner there. Both were terrific. I loved their granola/yogurt breakfast. Can be a bit loud with families...but it's a fun, casual atmosphere...right on the beach. Love outdoor seating...try to reserve a table on the patio!

One does not spend $700 a night to be ignored for over twenty minutes before we had someone acknowledge our presence. Our waiter, once he did arrive, rushed us, appeared harried, and interrupted me every time I asked a question. My swordfish was the the smallest piece of fish I've ever been served in my life. Chewy and tasteless. I... More

We ate hear every morning while staying at Shutters on the Beach. I was able to get a $60 credit for breakfast which typically covered the fare. My son ate the waffles every morning. I switched up between the mozzarella and mushroom omelette and the eggs benedict. My group eventually ordered all three types (spinach, traditional, and salmon). They all... More

Long time patron at Coast Beach Cafe at the Shutters hotel. We are locals who have choices, and have chosen to eat at Coast for years without complaints. Let me clarify, I am never a complainer, but this was so outrageous it has to be written up. Had lunch there today, new manager Allessandei, when I brought the issues to... More

We were a party of 4 visiting the area for the day and wandered into this charming restaurant while walking the boardwalk from Venice to Santa Monica pier.  We had lunch out on the patio with lovely lemon trees and flowers all around.  Our wait time was just 10 minutes (without reservation). Our service was excellent. I enjoyed my grilled... More

Seriously, these guys have perfected each of the dishes we tried to an unbelievable level. Clam Chowder and Eggs Benedict take the gold. Service is incredibly smooth and friendly, while the place remains cozy but classy.

Came here for dinner on a weekday evening in late April. Made a reservation, but wasn't needed as plenty of tables available. Waiter was attentive and helpful. Table was right next to window looking out on to promenade and sea, which was nice. Food really nice, tasty and plentiful. Interior and decor was welcoming and gave a sense of it... More

I understand Coast is well-known for its brunch, but my son and I enjoyed a delicious lunch here this week. Covered patio is awesome - so breezy and bright...there was even a tiny bird flying around. It was relatively quiet at 1pm on a Monday, but it was to our advantage. We had the full attention of our server Jesse,... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
