I decided to book this restaurant to celebrate just getting engaged, I made the restaurant aware of this before arriving, (this was a waste of time) They sat us in a corner and all our waiters could think about was a tip, it was a...mediocre service and Italian meal, not worth the price they are charging, during our meal not one congratulations from any members of staff, no acknowledgement from any staff at the restaurant, this ruined a celebratory evening, I regret choosing this restaurant, To make my experience even worse, upon leaving I was chased out the door by a member of staff asking for a tip, this left us shocked by the cheek of the man, I always tip, but on this occasion they are lucky I even paid the 100$ bill for two supermarket standard Italian meals, Will not be returning or recommending!More

My favorite Italian restaurant on the Westside. The occasion was to celebrate my Grandson's graduation from Sant Monica College. We had the Fried Calamari as an appetizer and the Caesar Salad made and served at table; appetizers can be made for two or more. Everything...was well made and tasty, including the desserts. I had carrot cake that was a little different than the traditional recipe.More

The Atmosphere was charming! Servce was outstanding!! I am Italian. I have been to several upscale Italian restaurant's that were awful! The food was awesome! I chose the gnocchi Outstanding and light as a feather! The only thing I thought was that the cocktails were...almost$20.00 each.More

We had a family get together on their patio in the back and everyone in the family absolutely loved it! Service was wonderful. The atmosphere was very nice. They had a great selection of whiskies at the bar, which is always a plus for me....The food? Perfect! We ordered a very wide variety of dishes so that we could share, and each dish was more popular than the last.More

Share review Embed review Write an update Edit review 9/2/2020 We have been guests at Vito restaurant for many many years. I am sorry to say that I that this restaurant has lost its charm and good food. Covid-19 has another victim. Imagine they sell...you a table side Caesar salad for 22 bucks...( of course nothing can be table side in these times) and you ask them to prepare it how you like it....of course Madame. Then you get you salad as they come out with 6 others, and it is not custom made. You ask for extra dressing the way you ordered it...and they serve you a whipped dressing out of the fridge...like fast food. You ask for a wine list, by the glass and they say we do not have one...and then charge you 15 bucks for whatever it is...merlot...cab...zin..etc. Then you get the main course Carbonara pasta all filled with cream (yuck) like an Alfredo sauce...Amatriciana pasta loaded with onions...(yuck). In general the food was very mediocre. And then of course there was the arrogance of our waiter...not even qualified to be called a Server, who thinks he is doing you a favor to take your order. Hey...retire guy....and then when you go to the manager on call, JR...he was too busy on a personal call to pay attention to you. It is not like the place was busy, or the take out orders ringing the phone off the hook. Do yourself a favor, and leave this restaurant in your past, and never if you have never been there. Old school Italian, forgetting that this is a new world. Time to leave Vito to retirement. Best regards to those who have treated me well. Sorry the team can no longer live up to the standards that were so special, leaving you to look forward to the next time. Farewell Vito, and to anyone looking for a new place, this is not the place for you.More

Wow, the people, the atmosphere and the food are all awesome. You must order fettuccine al burino. And the deep fried mozzarella sticks and the calamari. Alberto the waiter is fantastic and made us laugh. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the good service in general but the main course (to follow) was a disappointment. To start we had cocktails which were excellent, then the fried calamari which was better that average but not stellar, it lacked flavor and the fried...crust was a little mushy. Caesar salad was delicious prepared at table. I ordered a veal Milanese which was so thin that the breaded part on both sides was thicker than the meat, that's not correct and the overall flavor was like old oil, no veal flavor to speak of. I was disappointed but I wasn't in the mood to complain given the holidays and they were so busy. The pasta was good, but again nothing very special. It's really too bad because this restaurant has a great atmosphere and a good authentic vibe. To be be fair I did see some other dishes being served which looked delicious so perhaps the next time we will have a better experience.More

Our dinner at Vito was wonderful from start to finish. The service was terrific with very attentive staff who brought everything in a timely manner and always paid attention to our drink levels. The food was very good - not the greatest we've ever had...but high up on the list. The pre-dinner bread looked like pita and was absolutely delicious. My kids don't usually eat everything at restaurants but both of them finished every bite of their meals. The desserts were quite good as well. It was busy on Father's Day but we never felt neglected by the staff. Excellent all around!More

Just celebrated a birthday and was a very nice experience. The restaurant has been around for 38 years so it has an "old school" feel. Wait staff very attentive, food was homemade and they gave us a nice Wine List too. Would definitely go for...a special occasion and I would make reservations as the place is small and crowded. Would recommend the Caesar salad and they make it fresh!More

Four of us went to Vito expecting great Italian dishes, but none was had. The service was poor - it took more than ten minutes to be served bread, after several requests, and we had to ask for water several times as well. My wife...ordered rack of lamb, rare, and instead was served it dry and well done. She notified the waiter, a very nice gentleman, who indicated off the record that the kitchen staff tends to overcook the meat. When she asked him why he didn't warn her, he told her he should have. We ordered the Patriota salad, radicchio and arugula, and it was tasteless even after we asked for extra balsamic dressing. My spaghetti with sauce was ordinary. Our friends ordered veal marsala and veal piccata, and the veal portions were small and sliced too thin. The room was packed, leaving us wondering whether our service and meals were an aberration or whether Vito is coasting on reputation. I'm not normally a critic and am seldom disappointed when I eat out, but our Vito experience was unpleasant.More

Yes, I know my title will start a debate. Have been going here off and on since the early 1970s. Was there on a Sat. night for a Daughter's Birthday with her Family. We had a 5:30PM reservation and I arrived early at 5:10 to...have a drink at the bar before dinner. Bar was filled and lesson learned, get there early to get a seat at the bar. Happy Hour is 5:00-6:30 seven days a week and many of the patrons arrive early have drinks and food at the bar. Second lesson learned, Happy Hour drink prices not applicable to drinks served in the Dining Room. Message, try Happy Hour during the week. Service was great and the food outstanding. Appetizer was Calamari Fritti and we had the Caesar Salad. Desserts very good and a wide variety. A very popular restaurants for the locals.More

When you go to Vito, don’t expect glitzy environment. This is old world Italian place. People come here for the food. Service is great. You develop a personal relationship with the staff. Whenever we come here, I see familiar faces coz people just come back...whenever they can. I love all the pasta. The osso bucco is superb, my daughter’s favorite. The caesar’s Salad is made right in front of you and they even give extra anchovies if you request for it. So many choices for dessert too. Will always come back.More
