This is their slogan and it definitely true! Everything is delicious, plentiful and economical. I dare you to name a place where three or four can share a pitcher of powerful margaritas for less than $15. It is a unique neighborhood place with distinct character...More

I absolutely love this place! Amazing authentic Mexican food. I have ordered the Chili Verde and the 2 Tacos dinner special and both were great! Their chips are made fresh, salsa nice and spicy and rice and beans are to die for! They only accept...More

Cash only. Traditional Mexican food and amazing margaritas. Best bets are the burritos the size of your head or the house specialties (chili verde, carne asada, calamari steak, birria on weekends). Enchiladas are also great. If you like spicy, ask for the El Diablo sauce...More

Going to friendly family-owned Gilbert's El Indio was pretty much a weekly thing for us when we lived in Santa Monica. Their selection of Mexican favorites was always enticing - as well as their excellent Margaritas. There was often a wait to get a table...More

Been to Gilbert's many times for great Mexican food and delicious Margaritas. Noisy dive with flavors and smells and sounds of old Mexico. Cheerful staff. Low prices. Up the street from Sony studios. Get there early to avoid the wait for tables.

The parking is on the west side of the building, maybe 10 spaces. The entrance is not on the street front but in the back. It is next door to the east of a car wash, the one used in the 70s movie Car Wash.
