I found the service great and the ambiance buzzing with a vibrant hue. The Lobster is a lovely place and if I were a tourist I would truly appreciate the spot for it's "tourist attraction" location. This is not to say that the food isn't good because it is - particularly the house specialty - Grilled Lobster! Worth a try

The Lobster is in a perfect location in downtown Santa Monica overlooking the Pier and the Beach. It seems always crowded and the hardest table to get is a window seat. The food and the service are very good but the the restaurant has a high noise level. They also have a very nice bar with good cocktails. Worth the... More

We ate here with a reservation. Staff was very friendly. Food was good too. No 'haute cuisine' or any great surprises, but very good crabcakes and sashimi. Kids meals were also good. A bit outdated interior, but then again the location is almost perfect, right at the pier.

Located right by the famous Santa Monica pier with lots of water and pier views. Lots of open space and glass everywhere permitting great vistas. Food is pretty good but not special. It's crowded and expenses with its own parking

Every time we visit Santa Monica we go to The Lobster. It's always busy with a great location at the Pier looking at the water. Beautiful sunsets! Every meal we've had has been great and service has always been good. Every time we go it reminds me of how important it is to be real - to be yourself. There... More

The Lobster feels familar to the fish houses I've enjoyed growing up on the East coast. The quality of the food is excellent, the service is relaxed and it is a bit pricey. However, I like the location, the relaxed vibe and the food so although a weekly haunt I do enjoy dining their on occasion.

Best view for drinks and dinner in Santa Monica. The bartenders are great and very helpful The service and food is second to none. From the moment you walk in until you leave you will feel well taken care of. The truffle fries are fantastic and their brunch is amazing.

We had a terrific time at The Lobster, from the hosts to our server to the view and to the food. Given its location just off the entrance to the Santa Monica Pier, one might expect what some call a “tourist trap.” While obviously popular with tourists, The Lobster does not play down to the crowd. It offers a very... More

Great view, ok food, pricey and service needs to be improved. Hostess was the best part of the visit. She was a complete joy.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
