Lovely, elegant restaurant with fantastic seasonal prix-fixe menus. Top notch service with a professional, attentive wait staff. Superb wine list! Pricey, but well worth it for special occasions. Plan to be there for a few hours to get the full tasting menu experience.

Intimate, exceptionally creative and a great trip beyond our routine expectations. The service was very, very good, albeit a bit too measured in its pace. We did the New Years' Eve tasting menu with wine pairings, and the creativity of the chef was on display, with the wine pairings really well chosen by the young, but qualified sommelier. Pricey is... Not wanting to drive into LA to a fancy restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised with Melisse. The outside look of the restaurant was deceiving, but this was a classy French restaurant with wonderful food. The portion of the plates were just prepared, food was delicious and the service was good. You don't need a jacket (for a gentleman) but I... More

clearly a special occasion venue,it was beyond fabulous and high recommended. The pairings are spot on,the service beyond compare and I think that if anyone desired a fabulous introduction to the finest of fine dining in L A this is the place . It is well located for anyone on the West Side and certainly worth a drive.

We had the Tasting menu and with wine and tip the bill was more than $700 for two which is pretty top end in my view. But the food is exceptional as is the service. All the courses were excellent and we would definitely return (this is our second visit) if we are in the area

The food tasted fine but plating undermined the food. All the food was glopped together on plate. It felt like we were in a cafeteria not fine dining. Again this was Thanksgiving but eating at Melisse one would expect a more elegant meal. We sat down at 7:15 and were done by 9pm..

From the outside Melisse looks uninspiring and gives no indication of the cullinary excellence inside. The interior is very much the traditional image you would have of fine dining restaurants - lots of browns and creams and starched linen. There was a slight hiccup at the start when I was brought a gin & tonic rather than the gin martini... More

True fine dining is almost a lost art, but Melisse keeps the tradition alive. We have dined at Michelin restaurants all over the world, and Melisse remains our favorite. This is a very special occasion restaurant for us as it is very pricey, but we have dined here four times over the years and will again when the occasion arises.... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
