I felt like I was in a private club. The dining room feels very private and is comfortable with nice upholstered chairs. The atmosphere is lovely. Tables are not so close to others so you need to speak over their conversations. You won't go home with a horse voice. The dining room has no windows. Traditional Italian menu with designer... More

I was at Valentino for dinner and was warmly greeted and seated at a decent table. Service was friendly and attentive. I was drawn to Valentino because of the restaurant reputation for great food and its prestigious wine list. I was partly disappointed on both counts. The food was good but not great, as expected. The wine list was prestigious... More

We came to this restaurant, after being recommended by a friend as the best Italian/best service restaurant. the food was really good, however the service not so good. At the beginning it was excellent, but afterwards they totally ignored us, they never refilled our waters. After we were done with our main course, we sat there for a good 30mins,... More

The service was fast but as if we were bothering the staff there was no enthusiasm smile or atmosphere . I had an indifferent starter not bad not good followed by a veal chop which was ok . I asked for no potatoes they still came . The wine which was good was poured so fast I feared there would... More

Attended a wine pairing dinner emphasizing Barolo. Every course (there were 7) was beautifully prepared and presented, served at the right temperature, with good portion size, and was, most importantly, delicious. One standout was a shrimp-stuffed calamari. The selected wines paired perfectly, my favorite being a Cannubi Barolo, paired with a lean and meaty short rib offering. We will be... More

Valentinos has always been our favorite italian restaurant. When we saw it was participating in L.A. Dine we used the opportunity to invite friends who had never been there. While the quality and taste of the food continues to be very special, the service and servings of food were both frugal. We brought two bottles of wine and expected to... More

Dear Ann i know that you are upset about our corkage policy, but the reality is that with one of the largest wine list in the country, it is very hard to accept people that by bringing wine, make our margin of profit non existing... , That has become such of problem for restaurants and we try to be fair... Although high touted, I found Valentino's to be quite average and overrated. The service was okay but the food was unimaginative and disappointing in my humble opinion.

If you are looking for one of the best restaurants in the world, look no further. Valentino is by far, way ahead of the rest. This isn't your typical Italian eatery. This is old world classic style gourmet, and there are no twists. Of course, you can order the pasta, and it will be great. If fact it's the best... More

We came here on Saturday night, May 14th and had a Living Social/Groupon 5 course meal voucher. This is a very nice, classy, upscale restaurant. Great ambiance. At first they seated us at a table but we asked if we could get a booth, and they accommodated us. Food was very good, service was great. I highly recommend this to... More

We have been going to Valentino for the last 30 years, and it never once disappointed us. Pasta is really good here, and so is the sea food. Their lobster is really worth trying. Sauces are on the light side. Excellent and voluminous wine list. Being fond of Barolos, most of the time I defer to the sommelier who unfailingly... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
