If you want to have a wonderful ocean view, nice and relax place, great food and friendly waiters. Don't look further, I love this place, very clean, the food is excellent and I recommend the oysters and ceviche, very fresh, and delicious. As a local, I never tried this place before but I enjoyed every minute of it. I can't... More

We might be the last people in Santa Monica not to have visited this local staple but finally joined family for lunch and enjoyed an uneven, disappointing and ridiculously pricey meal. Oysters were fine ($3-3.50 each) and the barbecued oysters outstanding and meaty. But a breaded artichoke was inedible, the house Louie salad was mediocre, with wilted salad and few... More

Wonderful very late lunch. Shared a half dozen oysters from the oyster menu (selections made for us by staff). Really interesting to compare flavours between different types of oysters. Also shared the oyster stew - good flavours and well seasoned but too stodgy for a warm summer's day (was from the spring menu - maybe time to move to a... More

If you are in SM or nearby I recommend this gem. My second time and dinner was wonderful. Grilled oysters. Alaskan King Salmon. Perfect. This place is small, intimate, beer and wine only, but the food is solid. Everyone from the front to end makes you feel welcome and pleasant. They are doing a great job in a highly competitive... Just finished lunch - highly recommend the ceviche style oysters on the half shell - super fresh & simply amazing. Also split the lobster truffle Mac & Cheese and the tuna tacos - favorite was the tacos - creamy spicy sauce on top gave them an Asian flare - served with guac & pico. Fresh catch of the day -... We dropped in here for lunch on a Tuesday. We had the oysters, the scallops and some fries. Overall a decent place.

I've been here many times because we live closeby. Blue plate is a psuedo-trendy seafood bar that thankfully does not specialize in deep fried fish-flavored batter. It's got a neat location near Wilshire on Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica and as far as I know is the most northerly restaurant on Ocean. The servers are friendly and the food can... More

I had clam chowder and sauteed scallops, which were to die for. Simply cooked but beautiful with a mixed salad. Friendly service and a happy vibe. Will return.

My wife and I stopped here on a Monday afternoon. Not much of a crowd, we were seated upon arrival. I had the lobster roll with fries and my wife had the lobster tacos. Both dishes were very good. Excellent service. Portions are not large. This place offers a lot of seafood options. Many varieties of oysters and fish. It's... More

This used to be one of our must go to spots when visiting the area, but the last two times have been terribly disappointing. This trip there were no clams, oysters, or calamari to fry. Clam chowder barely resembled anything that comes to mind. Fried fish was heavy with oil, like the fryer wasn't hot enough. Daily fish special, halibut,... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
