If I could give you a zero I would. I've been coming here since it opened. Last 2 times I came it was a disaster. You wait and wait and wait and hope any time now my sandwich will be ready. I went by this...past Saturday and the bakery case was full @ 2pm. That should of been my clue. You've lost your customer base. The barista looks like he just came from cleaning a barn. The cook makes sandwiches one at a time and the owner has yet to crack a smile in the 12+ years I've been going there She's got that glare down pat. Youre in the customer service business. You aim is to please. The cook told it was my choice to go there after asking where my sandwich was after 40 minutes. He's right I will no longer choose to go there.More

the River Cafe at 415 River St, Ste K, in Santa Cruz, CA 95060-2724 is expensive and now the food is substandard. Has gone down hill

We needed to kill an hour or so before our rental home became available, and we were hungry, so we dropped in to River Cafe. They have a nice selection of egg dishes for breakfast and soup/salad options for lunch. My wife enjoyed her poached...eggs. My squash soup and salad were also fi e. The place is mainly an outdoor eatery...good on a nice weather day, but they have a few spaces at a narrow counter. You bus your own dishes at the end.More

Nice people. Great coffee. Good breakfast. More earthy than juicy. But healthy wonderful bread and obviously quality ingredients. It's Santa Cruz. So, expect at least a modicum of Birkenstock- type service or mindset. If you do, you will be happy and less excitable. And well...fed here. We asked for some hot sauce. An Hispanic worker brought us two kinds and puffed up, "I MADE THIS ONE!!!" She was great. Her sauce was great.More

Some of the best Santa Cruz offers. Organic, healthy, and fresh. Next to the Patagonia Outlet. Indoor and outdoor seating.

This place has become a mess! They don't listen, they don't care! I had to ask twice for the toast Then they brought me warm bread. There was more but don't want to waste time talking about it.

I am not sure what this place thinks it is but i can tell you that the food is very average, the service is zero. We waited for 40 minutes and still the area we waited to eat at was not cleared. There is a...lot of rubbish /food scraps from other diners on the floor and basically the staff did not care. I do not recommend you try thisMore

Mostly outdoor tables, laid back in atmosphere, food & service. Okay place to sit on the deck, not very professional in any respect. So don't expect too much.

It's hard to find a place in the City of Santa Cruz that still makes fresh sandwiches, much less one that has parking and excellent IPAs on draft. To top it off, it has a quiet outdoor wooden deck with lots of tables in a...peaceful garden setting.More

My wife and I are an elderly Asian American couple who arrived at the River Cafe just before noon on April 10, 2015. We informed the cashier upon entering that we had a Groupon coupon which we wanted to use, and she became immediately angry....We placed an order and then engaged in a brief discussion of the amount owed in excess of the value of the coupon. I had my wallet out and was willing to pay the amount she claimed, but she then abruptly terminated the conversation by stating loudly, "I refuse to serve you! You can leave!" We were humiliated. And with that she marked the coupon as having been redeemed. I responded by saying "You didn't even serve us anything. What you did (in redeeming the coupon with having served us anything at all) was not right." She yelled, "If you don't like it go take it up with Groupon!" This was not just a simple dispute but a real tragedy. It was fraud and a reading of other reviews about this establishment will demonstrate that my wife and I are not the only ones having to endure this humiliation and embarrassment at the River Cafe.More
