I got so excited about hand dipped corn dogs. These were huge and looked delicious. I guess that Texas girl in me just wanted a sweeter batter on the corn dog. I was a bit disappointed. I will say though that the fried veggies were...delicious. We got the combo and it came with Ranch and it was yummy!!! Corn dog would have gotten maybe 3 stars veggies got 5 for sure!More

Located inside the boardwalk area. For the food, prices are actually decent. Not the usual attraction/ballpark 8-9 dollar dog. Think corn dog was 4.50 and good! Have a variety, cajun, vegan, jumbo (1/4 lb) etc. Order at one window pick up another window. Little disorganized getting...the food order out, but got it handled. Inside area to eat if you want or outside table there also. Has numerous food choices, grill cheese's, chicken, burgers, dogs and various style of fries plus deep fried artichokes (wanted try but never got around to it) Fed 4 of us for around $50, with corndogs, burgers fries drinks. They tried to keep inside area clean as possible due to crowds but still needed two people on a constant vigil. Gave 4 stars, they kept the prices wallet friendly and had a wider selection of food than most places.More

While visiting the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for a couple of days, we wanted some good (bad for ya) fresh dipped corn dogs. As we walked around, the boardwalk, we found the Surf City Grill to have just the type we wanted. They were thick...and crunchy. We each got one and really enjoyed them. The boardwalk has several places offering corn dogs, but only Surf City had the hand dipped ones we like. Just my opinion. Enjoy!More

Have eaten at the "Surf City Grill" several times while attending the Boardwalk, they actually have better then average food for a quick stop food place. They have very good "Corn Dog's, also good Artichoke's, and several other items on the menu, you will be...presently surprised by the overall quality of the items, for a fast food type of place. If visiting the Boardwalk would highly recommend the Surf City Grill as a good option for Lunch.More

Fast friendly service and fried artichoke hearts. What else could you ask for. There is inside and outside seating available. Surf City has some good options that are not available at other spots at the Boardwalk.

Typical boardwalk fare - the garlic fries were good and the garlic was fresh (eating will make your tongue sting)!! We were pretty hungry and needed food for energy. Service was friendly and we didn't feel rushed by the wait staff even though he place...was crowded.More

What a great find. We stopped in to relax and enjoy a snack and a beer, but found the BEST corn dogs. They also have some of the most delicious fried artichokes and clamp chowder.

We stopped and tried the deep fried artichokes, there were good but nothing that I would go out of my way to get again. There was a good variety of food tho.

Was recommended this place from a few people. Got right in at the bar (other wise a 20 min wait on a Sat night) Ordered the clam chowder which was tooooo creamy (and I'm all for creamy chowder!) too much butter; just tasted like butter...and bacon; the bits of clams were few and small. Had the fried calamari and was ok (not fresh although the waitress RAVED about it) Ciopinno was terrible; fish WAAAY overcooked and broth just tasted like tomato sauce from a can. Also, the timing of the food being brought out was SUPER fast. I can understand wanting to turn tables but we had our soup, appetizer AND entrée within 15 minutes of being seated (pre made stuff which would explain the over thick soup and seafood!) If you want EXCELLENT seafood go to Aldo's!More

I worked here in the 80's as a teenager when Hodgie owned it. Despite the disappointing condition of the boardwalk overall, it was nice to see this place was in decent condition, and the food reminded me of the old days! The new owners appear...to work very hard to keep up with the food traditions started there years ago. A good classic place to eat!More

We came here looking for boardwalk food and that is just what we got! Delicious corn dogs and fries were enjoyed by all. Be sure to try the Cajun corn dog - a real taste treat! Spicy, but with just the right amount of zing....I think they hand dip all their dogs. Be sure to try the fried artichokes. I wish there had been a bit more artichoke and less batter, but these were still pretty tasty. The menu has friend zucchini and mushrooms too. Service was efficient and there was ample seating. The dining room is nothing fancy and has some retro photos on the walls. All in, if you are looking for a quick meal - heavy on the batter! - this is the place!More

First, look no further if you are craving a corn dog. Their fresh dipped corn dogs are the bomb and worth every $$. We used a coupon that if we spent $8 we get a free 24oz drink. My husband had their BBQ sandwich which...was tasty. Those 2 items was enough food because the portions are good size that it is filling. We recommend this location out of all the eateries. Decent everything!!!More

I've always been partial to the corndogs at the Trolley Car at the end of Main Street in Disneyland. But maybe that's because I feel obligated to love it because I've spent over $100 to enter the park! However, I'm fortunate to live in Santa...Cruz, where the Beach Boardwalk doesn't charge admission. Enter the Surf City Grill, a great little eatery by the bumper cars. This place is family owned (NOT a franchise) and the corndogs are a secret hand-dipped recipe. And it shows! These are big and tasty and under $5!! There are other great food and drink items on the menu, too. Enjoy a Sierra Nevada brew with your corndog and you are set to go! This author, however, is not responsible for what happens after your meal when you board a quick-spinning Boardwalk ride.More

We ate lunch here after taking a catamaran out for the afternoon. Very good food and wonderful service. We ate inside but there is also an outside deck next to the water. Excellent Bloody Marys. Great place for sunset.
