A decent restaurant but is one of several mainstream Santa Cruz Wharf restaurants. Menu choices are limited to easily procurable fish with average recipes. Nothing special or remarkable but if you are in the mood for wharf food, it is a decent choice when the...other restaurants are too busy for walk-ins. The oysters were fresh, plump & meaty and was the best item I ordered. The house cocktails were a bit watered down and not very inventive in my opinion.More

This restaurant is getting an unusual five-star review. I say unusual, because fishing pier and tourist area restaurants don't usually do so well in my book. I had the grilled seafood platter and my friend had the steak. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection....The mixed green salad exceeded expectations. The blue cheese salad dressing tasted homemade. The french fries were fresh and crispy, and I did not have to request them extra crispy. For dessert both my friend and I had creme brulee. The serving size was the largest I've ever had in a restaurant. It too tasted fantastic. Service also exceeded expectations. My diet Coke glass was always full. And the busser cleared dirty plates the second to the last particle of food was removed. All in all, I'd say the service was exceptional. And I love the ambiance. We were seated at an unusual table with both positions facing outward toward the window. Initially we laughed because it almost felt like we were on a two judge panel in a courtroom. But it turned out to be an excellent arrangement. We had a fantastic view of the Santa Cruz Bay and the seating area was comfortable and not cramped. Parking on the pier was super cheap. It was a little drizzly outside, so being able to park right outside the door of the restaurant, that was ultra convenient. A rare experience, I have zero complaints or concerns. I would definitely eat here again and I recommend tourist and locals alike give this place a shot. I'm glad I was not put off by the low Yelp score.More

Walk down the Santa Cruz Pier to find a gem of a restaurant! Lovely bright nautical ambiance welcomes you as you step inside. As you enter, you will be greeted by servers and bartenders who could not be more friendly or attentive. We had a...lovely table with a beautiful water view. Our charismatic server Zander helped us through the menu and guided us to some fabulous dishes. The seared scallops served over garlic and were perfectly cooked. We then indulged in the halibut with caper buerre blanc sauce. Absolutely delicious!! So fresh and perfectly seasoned and cooked! Come to Firerock Grill for an outstanding culinary experience!More

Worst service I have ever experienced. Way to start off the new year 2024. We sat down and waited 5min to have our server greet us. Then we ordered some sparkling water drinks only to have our waiter come out 15min to say they are...not ready yet. 20min to not get an appetizer or drinks is unacceptable. The server had a hard time articulating her words and was hard to understand as well. To top it all off the manager I assume wearing the suit had an unprofessional demeanor with his staff. We walked out and went next door to Rivas when two other tables sat down after us and all had their orders taken with no communication or apology about the wait.More

We got a table by the window on a beautiful November day. Our server was friendly and offered good suggestions. It wasn’t busy, so we got extra attention, so that may be a factor, but the food way very good, and we had excellent service.

The Pier had many options, but our time was limited, so we picked the restaurant we most liked the looks of. It was clean and bright. To a person, the staff was friendly. The manager, Lance, was here, there, and everywhere; always with a smile,...just as it should be. We didn't try any of the creative drinks they offered. Hopefully next time. We just had wine and it was quite good. My cohort ordered a steak at a fish place, but they thought it was great, so that's good to know. I had the fish and chips. I recommend the halibut over the snapper. Do not miss the fried calamari. I cannot stress this enough. Perfection on a plate.More

We visited this restaurant for dinner and decided to sit at the bar. We ordered wine and ended up staying for dinner. Whilst we were waiting, the staff were either arguing or confused as to who was serving, who was pouring drinks etc. Our food...was over cooked, with no flavor and our check was handed to us before we even finished eatingMore

Food and service 5/5. Have multiple food allergies and our server Liz C met with the kitchen staff to ensure a fabulous meal. My grilled halibut was perfect as were the side of veggie. Although my meal initially came out incorrect, Liz C and the...kitchen fixed the issue and I was able to enjoy a wonderful meal. Used the restroom afterward and rate the cleanliness there 1/5 as I was immediately hit was a wall of urine smell upon opening the door. It was so bad I had to hold my breath the entire time in the restroom. For such a nice place, especially after the recent renovation, I can't believe the restroom are neglected in such a way. I really hope they do a better job with cleanliness because that does make me think other parts of the restaurant are just as gross and not cleaned properly.More

I fancied a fish dinner in Santa Cruz and stumbled on this place despite the mixed reviews on Trip advisor I thought I’d give it a go. The service was very average. My server didn’t know the specials I had to walk him to the...window to show he that they were serving what I asked for. The food did take some time and when it arrived one of the fillets of snapper was warm and one was cold. They were very quick to give me the check! Look I think it’s OK and what you’d expect for a touristy type place (I am tourist). Nothing memorable but functional. I was hungry when I went and wasn’t when I left. Onwards and upwards.More

This restaurant is located on the Municipal Wharf in Santa Cruz, along with many other restaurants. They cater to tourists. Food is average at best, prices are very high. Wine and beer list doesn't have much to offer. The service was good, staff seemed friendly...and nice. My husband had the fish and chips, which he said was ok. I had the scallops which were terrible. The dinner salad was adequate. The ocean views were beautiful but didn't really make up for the food. Next time, I'm ordering out for a pizza, I think....More

I never send food back although clearly they have have no chef, and the manager was about as useless. STAY AWAY !! The locals...will tell you the same. Very very expensive, I feel sorry for the seafood that was killed to serve us.More
