A friend suggested we meet here. The place is small but they make the best use of the space. Several tables for 4 were all around the edge of the place. Sat ourselves and the owner came quickly to take our drink order. Opening the...menu we were really surprised, not your normal breakfast items. Well almost, they were the normal breakfast items but with a significant upgrade. Everything sounded wonderful. Decided to have the Seafood Benedict. Came with blue crab cakes and a sautéed scallop. That is different! The carb cake was fried and over done, but still had a good taste. The scallop was perfect. The hollandaise sauce was one of the best ever and the egg was poached perfectly. And the presentation was wonderful. My only complaint was the english muffin was not toasted. We also had the regular Benedict and my husband would have like a little thicker cut of ham. Both meals came with either hash browns or home fries. We both had hash browns and they were really good. Otherwise they service lunch and dinner too. We understand that on some Fridays they have a small group for music and you can bring your own bottle of wine with no corkage fee. Lots of locals go here. It is not really easy to find and is tucked way back in a corner of Saugus. Might go again, but out of the way for us.More

Stopped by this morning while I was in the area and had a nice breakfast. Nice small place seat yourself with no hassle. Staff stopped by right away and took a drink order. I really wanted to enjoy Thelma’s. Great reviews. I was excited to give it a try. It appeared to have local folks frequent the restaurant. It wasn’t too busy at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, 7/22. The manager was chatting with a lady who was eating...alone, so he told us to sit anywhere. Between the manager working the front of house and two wait staff, no one came to the table to give us a menu or ask us if we wanted coffee or something to drink. So we grabbed a menu and silverware from the adjacent table. Once we decided what we wanted to eat, we laid the menu to the side to signal the wait staff that we were ready to place our order. Still no service. Another family came in and sat at the table next to us. These folks were recognized locals and the male waiter immediately greeted them and serve them. Still we waited as the staff took food orders from the adjacent tables, but never stopped by our table. And the manager was still busy sipping his refreshment and chatting up the single lady seated near the entrance door. After 15 minutes, my husband informed him that we had been waiting for 15 minutes while he ignored us and the wait staff took orders from families that had arrived after we did. He briefly apologized but did not offer to take our order on the fly. Frustrated, we ended up leaving. I’m assuming the food is great, but service is a deal breaker. I followed up and requested to be contacted by the owner or general manager. No such luck...More
Went there for their Angus Beef Hamburger Special —$6.95 only on Thursday evenings. Cooked perfect for me. Very good. Will return.
Very small place, but the food is freshly prepared and very good. Omelette was delicious...also got the country potatoes and they were very tasty. Coffee was also great!
Have been here a few times for breakfast - it's a great breakfast place, and we like that it's not a big chain. :) The food is good, service is nice. My only complaint is I wish the coffee were better, but it's not bad...- just not up to par with the great food. ;)More
Thelma's is a lovely place for dinner. White tablecloths and very charming, personalized service and live music create a relaxing, heart-warming ambiance. The menu doesn't have so many options that it overwhelms you. But each dish we have tried has been delicious and the presentation...of the food is high class. Don't plan on having a glass of wine with your meal though. They do not serve alcohol. BYOBMore
Great little restaurant in Valencia that not only serves a delicious breakfast but also a fantastic burger night on Thursdays. Corkage is a friendly $5 a bottle. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Don't miss it.
