We wanted to try Tobang for quite some time but never had the opportunity until last night. During a sweltering heat wave in the bay area, much too hot to cook at home, we found Tobang to be a great option to do takeout. They offered a fabulous 2 meat meal with sides that was more than enough to feed 4 persons for around $50. Their web site makes it so easy to select your 2 choices of meat and to specify the desired pickup time. We opted for their standard bulgogi beef and bbq chicken as our meat selections. The meal includes a tasty seafood pancake, nicely fried with loads of succulent seafood and veggies as well as a steamed egg that brought back pleasant memories of the dish my mom used to make for us. The meal was complimented with an assortment of side ban chan dishes (jap chai noodles, spicy tofu, kim chee, sea weed, and more. The food was ready for pickup at the scheduled time and i was in and out in less than five minutes. The food was enormous qualtity and so pleasing to the taste. Meats were marinated in wonderful flavor and we were so glad to sample everything in their fresh lettuce wrap and daikon wraps that were provided. We found the blend of flavors and textures to be unique and certainly great tasting. We felt fully satisfied and happy with the entire meal.

My family of 5 enjoyed a totally wonderful BBQ Korean dinner. Our table was set immediately with all sides and grilled meats ready to cook. All the little plates were delicious and promptly filled when empty. Especially enjoyed the potatoes and pickled radish. Service was friendly and efficient for being so busy. We were all satisfied with our meal! A nice touch at end of meal a frosty yogurt drink and Asian crackers. Yes, we will be back!!

We were pretty excited to find a Korean BBQ place near our hotel and we were not disappointed! The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and quick and the atmosphere was fun! I highly recommend this place if you like traditional Korean BBQ!

Restaurant atmospheric makes us feel like we are back in Korea! We ordered while waiting and voila, all the platters and food almost were served immediately once seated. You can refill the side dishes.

There is always a line here for a reason. The meats are fresh and tasty, we feed our group for $20pp tax and tips included! They made suggestions as what we should and shouldn’t get and was spot on! The side dishes were many and they keep replacing them as we wolf them down, never a empty side dish. Love the fish cake and potatoes. Great attentive service and staff, super friendly and hard workers. Free small milk tea to go if you ask the owner at the front desk as you leave;-)

Excellent Korean bbq served by a friendly a professional staff. They make sure the meat is cooked to your taste and still have time for a friendly chat while they are working.

I went to experience this kind of food, it was ok, but I noticed dried food that has not been cleaned off for a while. I wonder what the kitchen looks like?

Was craving for Korean and to bang didn't disappoint. Great meal, attentive servers, good cuts. Only thing was the vents in each table grill, could have been better. We'll be back for sure!

I went to this restaurant with my daughter's family. We heard about the large amount of food they serveso we ordered a family of four package. The amount was just right for the six of us. The must served around 8 different kimchi appetizers and they kept on coming. The baked rice was very good. The steak was tender. In general, service was good, ambiance is more for the you ger crowd. The only thing i have to complain was that they will not take reservations. We arrived around 5:45pm and waited a good 30 minutes. For my husband who is 86 years old, 30 minutes wait was brutal. Thus the three star rating.

This place has great meats and a wide selection of meats in their family meals. We had their 6 serving family meal and it was generous on the meat and all the sides are pretty much bottomless (this is a traditional thing in Korean restaurants). The great thing about this place is it reminds me of hole in the wall places I enjoyed when I was in my 20's. The bad thing about this place is that it reminds me of the same hole in the wall places of my 20's while not paying hole in the wall prices. The facilities are not very nice, not even very clean in most spots, but the food and service does make up for it. This place gets very crowded so expect a wait and get there early!

The food here is below average. The service was below average. The atmosphere is below average. This is not an LA style Korean BBQ restaurant and not even close. Basically a propane burner and a pan on top. Not the table top experience you'd expect. Besides that, the food was below average and pretty poor. The bul go gi was not very good. My wife's kim chi chi gae was the worst she's had. My duk man du guk was worse than instant soup. The mandu was average. I will not be going back.

Wow. A night to remember. ToBang is quite the experience and not for the faint of heart. We came as a party of seven, even though we were only six, because on the phone they claimed to only accept reservations for seven. Upon arrival, while we awaited the entire party, we were “given the opportunity” to order in advance. Once they were ready for the meal to begin, the circus started. We were whisked to our table which already had plates of food and two beers. As such, we were confused if the table wasn't already taken. Evidently the plan is to speed things along like elementary school lunches. After a quick explanation of the kimchi and other dishes, the barbecue stove was activated, a few predefined “main dishes” were delivered, and the first of perhaps four heaping servings of a carnivorous product was cooked at high temperatures by our table. As soon as the fat was dissolved and meat cooked to a fraction of its former girth, the waitress/table cook served us the meat. Other waiters stopped by with a series of mystery dishes and spicy soups to keep our table absolutely flooded with Korean foods. I can’t say that things were exceedingly delicate, but they were pretty good. The joy was in the nonstop food delivery, the apparent challenge to “keep up with the food” while our stomachs steadily got full. Some of the meat that was cooked, like the bacon and pork belly, were borderline revolting because of the amount of fat. So I focused on the plethora of little food dishes, mostly cold, that populated the table from A to Z. I can’t really tell if we were duped by what was presented and charged to us, because I never studied the menu to see what our options were. It seems as if this family style approach is ToBang’s trademark, and there’s surely a fixed price per person to which alcohol is added. What the price is, however, I never learned, but the total bill seemed quite reasonable in any case. Note that they don’t accept AMEX here which could pose problems for folks like me who are required to use the corporate credit for all business travel expenses. The meal ended costing about $40 per person – not exorbitant considering the fact that I ran out of steam eating like a pig before the food service ended. I’ll go back again someday, but given that I’m watching what I eat during business trips, there could be an extended delay. I’m always a little apprehensive when I eat so fast and so much that I forget or simply can’t tell what I’m eating!

The service was odd. When we first walk in, it almost appeared that the waiter didn't know what to do with us. Then someone else came out and seated us. The menu was confusing because you can choose the all you can eat or order a la carte. However, if you choose all you can eat then the whole party in your group needs to order all you can eat. Alright. Not everyone is into all you can eat at the party but we're flexible. The food was sub par compared to the other Korean places we've been to. We won't be coming back here again.
