We had great food, hot fresh bread, great bar drinks, excellent branzino crispy skinned fish, good crab cakes. Loved our flourless chocolate cake, perfect size for a taste. Sand dabs were a bit drab and the spinach just lacked any taste.
A staff member from a local hotel recommended Lure Fish House. It turned out to be a good suggestion! The evening was beautiful, so I sat on the patio. There's plenty of outside seating, and everything was very clean. I was given a choice of...an online or paper menu. I chose the paper one, then was asked if I wanted to use it for a placemat, which was a great solution instead of just tossing it.
While I was making up my mind on the menu, the server brought a basket of warm sourdough rolls and butter. Awesome.
I decided on rockfish and chose the Vera Cruz chowder and a parmesan potato cake as my two side dishes. The chowder was excellent -- a spicy combination of seafood, corn, and tomatoes. However, all the food came at the same time. I realize I should have asked that the soup be served first, then the entree, because the entree was cooling while I ate the soup.
The rockfish was very good. The potato cake looked fabulous. It was about an inch thick and had chopped peppers which made it look festive. But I found I do not like the taste of parmesan with potatoes, so I didn't finish it.
The service was excellent. When ordering, I had a hard time deciding between the regular New England clam chowder and the spicier south of the border one. My server said many people asked for a combination of the two. I couldn't imagine those two very different flavors combining, so my server brought me a sample. It was surprisingly good!More
Came across this place all thanks to yelp and the great reviews. I’m near the sea so I always have to get some seafood. I ordered some lobster ravioli, crab cakes and a Cesar salad. Everything, and I mean everything was simply Devine. The...ravioli was stuffed to the Max with lobster, and that sauce was so good. The crab cakes were perfectly created, not too salty, and not lacking any crab. I loved my dinner from here, it was one of my favorite meals. Thank you for being open and allowing me to have enjoyed such a wonderful meal. Forever grateful and will most definitely return here if and when I am in the area. Props to David for arranging my to-go order and ensuring everything was provided.More
Lure was one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. But last time I was surprised how everything changed after being two months closed for the public. Some food was scattered on the table by the worker, and nobody didn't clean it. Also, I made...an order to go, and at home, I recognize that two dishes weren't included. And instead spicy clam chowder, I got tomato soup.More
Due to CA shelter in place, last night we tried take out from Luhr - one of our favorite restaurants. I had Steelhead and wife ordered Ahi. Used their online ordering. Scheduled the pickup and paid without leaving the house. Picked it up at exact...time specified. It was ready, quite warm and beautifully packaged in one of their custom "to go" insulated bags. Meal was just as good as if we had been dining in as we have had both dishes before. Will do this again and encourage others to do same. Hope they can hang in there until this is all over!!More
Busy seafood restaurant in shopping center with free parking. Extensive menu with fresh fish cooked perfectly, extensive cocktail and wine menu, and excellent and friendly service. A chain restaurant which does it well.
Wow great fish , great service , best meal we had in Santa Barbara! Don’t be put off that it is in a mall! You should not miss this restaurant! We are foodies from NYC at a conference and it was our third dinner restaurant...and we were blown away ! Everyone’s fish was fabulous ! Blackened Swordfish was tender and delicious; the Idaho trout almandine was fabulous ,flavorful, delicately prepared , the Ahi tuna was so fresh it was like it jumped from the sea, the oysters prepared charbroiled , raw , and fried all delicious . Desserts blueberry crumble and the Mintini so sweet and well made! Kudos to our weight staff Brendan who was so knowledgeable and really helped us make good choices. When the check came we were shocked at how reasonable as we had drinks and wine ! I would go back in a heartbeat!More
The setting — a mall. The fish, average. It’s hard to remember that you’re in a coastal city with outstanding fish at your doorstep. It’s just not the right ambiance for a special dinner.
I chose the branzino for my main course. It was quite...bland. My husband had the sand dabs and they were quite heavy. Past reviews have raved about the sour dough bread. I am wondering why — small square rolls that one could have bought in the supermarket. I’m afraid this was one disappointing dinner. And the setting didn’t make up for the shortcomings of the food.More
Stopped here for the Happy Hour specials and enjoyed the shrimp tacos with two delicious sauces. My friend enjoyed two styles of fish tacos. Other apps available include oysters, calamari and more. Good bread--crunchy on the outside and soft in middle. Wines and complete bar....Dinner, of course available, but did not stay. Great friendly service. Give it a try!More
