Granted it was a few months ago that I was here, but I ordered a dirty martini and was told they had gorgonzola stuffed olives..so I asked for that in my martini. The bartender replied that they were "an extra charge (he said amount), how many did I want"? Now, I can't remember if it was $1.50 or $1.75 for... More

Lunch at Opal featured fresh California produce and ingredients such as organic chicken and olive oil. Good wine list and local beers on tap. Friendly service in a calm setting

My first impression of Opal was not too positive: the decor has a spare, quasi-industrial look relieved by a few old art-deco posters, and the acoustics let every noise rattle around before dying out. However, the food made up for these shortcomings. Absolutely delicious and artfully presented, it treats the eyes and the tongue. And an extensive wine list will... More

I read about this restaurant before our trip and it did not disappoint. We both had a filet mignon, although different dishes, and enjoyed them very much. The steak was tender as it should be and every bite was great.

Consistently delicious, the Opal never disappoints. Some people feel that due to the high ceilings it's too noisy, but we enjoy the eclectic & upbeat atmosphere. The employees are wonderful, decor great and the cuisine..OMG! Whenever we visit Santa Barbara we make it a point to have dinner at Opal. This was our 39th wedding anniversary & they made it... This locally owned restaurant is guaranteed to please. The diverse menu is excellent and Tina Takaya and Richard Yates work hard to keep up the style. If you need to get to the show, they are prompt, if you want a table that is quieter they will help. They have wonderful framed Life magazines in the Women's bathroom, all stars.... More

They don't even bring you a bread basket while you are waiting for the food to come. It seems to be very popular because is close to the theater. I was under the impression waitress was rushing us through dinner so she can get another set of people to take care off. So we left the basic tip. ( they... More

We loved everything about this place. The ambiance is upscale but still causal and comfortable. The service is outstanding. We were invited to ask any server on the floor to get us anything we needed. We didn't need to do so because our server was perfectly attentive. The wine list is a very good place to start along with the... More
