I had been here years ago and wanted to bring my husband who loves Mexican! Dinner was delicious and beer cold..

We were told that eating at La Super-Rica was part of the Santa Barbara experience. So, we found ourselves waiting in a somewhat long line at 1:30pm. The wait in line and for the food was well worth it. The freshly made corn tortillas were warm, soft, and tasty. The specials we selected were plentiful, well flavored, and filling. The... More

If you ask me, what is THE best restaurant in Santa Barbara, I will answer you unambiguously: La Super-Rica Taqueria. I lived in Santa Barbara 20+ years ago, after so many years, this was only restaurant I loved and remembered dearly. Last week, when I was in Santa Barbara, I made a special effort to revisit this place. To my... More

Lunched there last weekend with friends who love their meat. We are vegetarian. We were far from disappointed. I had a Vegetarian Tamale and hubby had Chile Rellano. Both were totally unique and delicious from anything we'd ever eaten. Be prepared for a short line and short wait but well worth it.

This place is very hole in the wall in style. What it lacks in fancy decor it makes up for in food quality and value. The tortillas are made from scratch and all of the food is delicious. Being from the East Coast it was nice to try next level Mexican food while in CA and the Taqueria was my... More

We loved this restaurant for lunch despite the pouring rain! Luckily the line wasn't too long so we could wait inside without our umbrellas. Other Californians recommended we get 2-3 orders per person so we had plenty of food. The dishes were amazing, especially the specials...Tamal with Dover sole (yum!) and chile relleno with creme sauce. Cash only and then... More

I believe the only reason Super-Rica is well known is because Julia Child mentioned it in an interview a long time ago. Food is okay, portions are SMALL and wait is long. If you want a good experience try El Sitio on Salinas street not to far away. Menu is good, portions are generous, quality great and service friendly. You... More

Basic, simple, and to the point tacos. Homemade corn tortillas are the show stealer and make this spot absolutely worth the wait. If it was good enough for Julia, it is for anyone else. This isn't your typical over done taco spot though. The taco comes naked and you just find a good salsa to top it with, and really,... More

Great authentic Mexican food. Old school and delicious. Beware of the long lines but it will move quickly. Everything is delicious but I love the #6, 7 & 8. The specials menu always has great stuff like the shredded beef tacos and chicken enchiladas. It's no frills, cash only but consistently great.

On our way to Santa Barbara's State Street, we stopped at La Super-Rica Taqueria for lunch. We found the staff to be very friendly, the authentic Mexican food very tasty and unique, and the overall prices reasonable. Only cash is accepted. The home made tortilla chips though amazing took quite a long time to arrive and our guacamole was long... More
