La Super-Rica is a Santa Barbara institution - they told me they opened in 1980 (36 years ago!). I have yet to find Mexican food anywhere like this. Order a bunch of things on your first trip - spending a little extra is well worth getting to sample all of the different styles and flavors they offer.

We were lured here because we are Julia Child's fans, but we were highly disappointed. First it is a hike out of city centre, and then you have to queue for 30+ minutes before ordering your cantina food. In a cantina wait has to be short, but not here. Afterwards a wait for food, that you ordered with very limited... More

We based our visit on Julia Child's recommendation from sometime ago... Don't be fooled by that old date, just maybe better than when she visited.

Nothing special as far as taste goes. Horrible atmosphere. Try Los Agaves a few blocks further north. That's the real super rico food!

We got there about 1130am and the line was starting to form down the street. This is where you go when you want fresh and delicious tacos. Try the chile relleno with vegetables. My boyfriend had the #16 and loved it. Go early, as it is packed with locals and tourists.

Always long line for mediocre Mexican food. Went there with my companion to ask what they thought of the place. Agreed with my assessment of mediocrity and either customers have never tasted good Mexican food or afraid to disagree with Julia Child. Any place with long line should at least provide Internet access but not here. You've been warned. Caveat... More

Waited 30 minutes in line and more 30 minutes to find that my order was lost. When asked my money back they back they tried to give less than I had paid...

This is a restaurant I could eat at every day and be very happy, but since I moved from Santa Barbara in 1981, I only get to eat here when I make it back for an occasional visit. I dream of the simple, clean flavors here - grilled dark flavorful peppers, creamy cheese flavored by the grilled peppers, tasty meats,... More

At 2 in the afternoon, there was a line out the door! It's worth all the hype. Wait in the line. It moves quickly and the food is delicious. The tortillas are handmade right before your eyes. I have never tasted a better tortilla. And the fillings are equally amazing. Sample a couple of the different tacos so you savor... More
