Half way through our California holiday and just round the corner is an English fish and chip shop. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Partner had cod which was not fresh as he thought it had been frozen. My battered sausages tasted of fish, suggesting they were battered in the same batter as the fish. Chips weren't like back... My son was craving fried fish and chips and the reviews were good. We decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. Prices were very good, serving size was fine and meals tasted great. We ordered the small fish and chips and a cup of chowder. Eveything was served piping hot and quick. Batter was light, fries were... More

Saw this was triple D spot, so we gave it a try. The fish was very good and the normal size is plenty for a meal. The shepards pie (ground beef and lamb) was a little greasy but it was tasty. The chips were typical English thick cut style. My only complaint is the dining room needs a through deep... More

The fish and chips was delicious as well as the toad in the hole! We decided to stop and eat at Macs since we saw it on Diners, Drives, and Dives. It was definitely worth it! The service was good and quick. The only thing we ate that was a little bland was the coleslaw. Other than that it was... More

My husband and I were in Santa Barbara for the afternoon and I had my heart set on eating at Mac's. The reviews were good and it was featured on Triple D. Plus, who doesn't love a hearty meat pie? I had the steak and potato pie. My husband had a shepherd's pie. Mine was delicious and I really enjoyed... More

Love this place - great fish & chips but also the pies we love in Britain - steak, chicken and shepherd's pies - even haggis for the Scots! Beer and wine too - watch a live football (soccer) match from the UK on one of two TVs. One last compliment - Mac is a very jolly, gracious host👍👍👍

For excellent English style fish and chips, this is the place to go. The cod was cooked just right with a light batter and the chips were hot and good. The curry sauce (for chips) was a little too spicey for me.

I was looking for real Fish and Chips and I found it. I received a real piece of fish and full size french fries. The service was good for a counter order type restaurant. The only criticism the tables could be cleaner.

We literally stumbled across this place as we walked down State Street. We ordered the regular fish and chips and had the Mac & Cheese pie, both of which were really tasty. Food was made to order and was delivered quickly. There were a few four seater tables and a few high boys. A nice atmosphere overall and a pleasant... More
