Excellent food. Nice ambience. Got the scallops with risotto and husband got the cioppino. Both were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the food there.

I loved my experience here and so glad I stopped here! I only waited for a little bit and got a table outside. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad which tasted so fresh and delicious. Literally the best salad I had over the course of...an 11 day trip. I also had a cocktail I loved and finished the meal off with a cheesecake dessert. One of my favorite meal experiences of my trip would definitely return.More

Breakfast and lunch menu have a lot of variety however you really cannot be in a rush at all. The service is slow and although we have been here many times over the past couple of years, it has not improved. The food is pretty...good, not that special - but definitely convenient. Ahi tuna sandwich, smoked salmon Benedict, are two pretty tasty items on the menu. Good veggie omelet as well.More

My daughter and I rode our hotel’s cruiser bikes here and rewarded ourselves with prefect Bloody Mary’s! She has crab cakes with poached eggs , I had seafood eggs and home fried potatoes. Delicious. Well worth the ride and the perfect birthday celebration brunch. Right...on the beach!More

Rode some bikes up to this place. Had brunch over looking the beach. Great food, absolutely amazing food. Worth the time. You won’t be disappointed. After your meal, you can take a walk along the beach for miles if you want.

My husband and I stopped here when we were driving through Santa Barbara and were looking for a setting that had a beach in view. The Boathouse did not disappoint. Hendry's Beach is a place for people to walk their dogs, so if you are...not interested in seeing dogs do not go here for lunch. Dogs were not allowed in the restaurant, but where plentiful on the walk up and in the parking lot. We arrived around 11 a.m., which was a perfect time. We only had to wait around 20 minutes for a table outside. The patio has many umbrellas for a sunny day, so no need to worry about full sun the whole meal. Hand sanitizer was readily available for anyone who wants to use it. The tables were somewhat close together but not crowded. We had drinks and food, which were all very good. Wait staff was very accommodating and friendly.More

We had a yummie breakfast here today. Nice and friendly staff. Was lovely to sit outside. It was super cloudy but with the heaters on it was great. I had the french toast with bananas and my boyfriend had the californian egg benedict. Both dishes...very really tasty and big portions. Can defenitely recommend! I am sure if the sun is shining its beautiful to sit there and watch the sea.More

I can’t believe this is a Tripadvisor recommendation! The location is lovely and the bar staff are great - just get a drink and take it to the beach - but the food was really poor. Greasy crab cakes and basic oven chips and what...looked like frozen fish and chips. This was the type of food you’d get on the beach in the uk 10 years ago! Very disappointing.More

The place is very rundown and not clean inside. We ordered pancakes which were soggy and undercooked. My order of potatoes were cooked with onions & bell peppers and the vegetables they cooked the potatoes were rotten and smelled awful. The server never came to...ask as how our food was or if we needed anything. The bathroom had a puddle of water right int he center and were not clean. Please don't waste your money or time to eat here. If you want to walk on the beach it's nice but the restaurant isn't worth the money. The host would not allow us to sit close to the windows to have a better view from the indoor because we were a party of three and she was saying it's only for 2 people even though they had several tables open.More

My spouse and I arrived in Santa Barbara at lunchtime, and selected the Boathouse based upon its Tripadvisor ranking. We had the crab cakes and the cioppino; we enjoyed our meals very much. The cioppino was noteworthy in that it was not only quite delicious...but cost at least $10.00 less than it would have at home in San Francisco. The seafood tasted fresh and sweet, and the broth was very flavorful. I had them 86 the mussels, which I loathe. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The only type of iced tea you could order was what she described as "unsweetened" passion fruit flavored tea. It was absolutely terrible. The fruit flavor tasted like "better living through chemistry;" there was also a great deal of artificial sweetener in the mix, which left a strong aftertaste. The tea was sickeningly sweet even after squeezing almost a whole lemon into it. When I sent it back I said rather bluntly that it was horrible and that, although it was indeed very likely sugar-free, it was clearly sweetened. She argued with me and continued to assert that it was unsweetened. She was not disrespectful in any way, but she didn't subscribe to a "customer is always right" philosophy. It is, in my opinion, a good one, particularly when the customer ACTUALLY IS right. A safe choice would be to at least offer regular old unflavored tea as as alternative. This did not in any way spoil our meal, and, because of the beautiful view and the good food, I would say to give the place a try, especially if you want to enjoy seafood by the sea.More
