We dined at the MR last night with our friends. The service was excellent; the food OK. Unfortunately (for the wait staff too) the restaurant was full of Chinese people, just off a tour bus, who were loud and rude. You could tell the two servers were doing all they could to keep their patience. This circumstance detracted from the... More

Had dinner here on a Friday night, only guest present from 5 to 530, but it filled up by the time i left. Wanted to sample a few things, had the artichoke heart appetizer, very tasty; clam chowder was just ok; salad less so, some wilted stuff in the mix; swordfish and shrimp entree mostly featured a creme sauce, swordfish... Very small restaurant, but it offers a romantic ambiance with a proce that wont break the bank. Try the halibut grilled with almonds for a tasty Californian dinner

It was a expensive restaurant. My kids were acting up, so we decided to leave. The waitress walked away with a bad attitude. No wonder there is no one in the restaurant, yet across the highway all the restaurants were full

The Manta Rey Restaurant has great food and is very nice inside, but is in an older part of town. We recommend the FISH!! Service was good, upscale-type restaurant.

Honest food! Vegetables were delicious! Cooked perfectly! Very fresh and tasteful. The fish was excellent too. As it is On the road, attached to a motel, I was e expecting a fast food sort of place..so not so! Everything tasted fresh and carefully prepared. Prices were fair. Service attentive. Kids are welcomed

Easy walk from the surrounding hotels. Mostly average and a friendly staff. Small restaurant. I'd go back.

Ate there twice. Though I ordered simple dishes (fish n' chips, and calamari n/ chips), both times our seafood was cooked to perfection. Fish and calamari were fresh and soft and juicy. I hate when seafood is overcooked and becomes nothing short of rubber. The service was great. Food was served very fast.

My husband and I had a pleasant dinner. I had a blackened salon salad and he had pasta with seafood. Service was good prices reasonable better than I expected for such a small town

We ate here after our Hearst castle tours because frankly there's not much in to choose from in San Simeon besides Hearst Castle. Manta Rey is attached to the Quality Inn so that was the first indication of what to expect. Deep fried calamari strips were tasty but the tartar and cocktail sauces were just slapped onto the plate. The... More
