Remembered as a family favorite place when Gau Poang was in Burlingame. Happy to find it now in San Mateo. Our family shared mu shu pork and snow white chicken. Made just as I remembered. Great and friendly service. Super chinese food at reasonable prices. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant was a plus. Will be back next time in... More

This place is not worth visiting. We were a party of four. One of us summed it up "the best thing about this place is the tea". The service was good but the food was inedible. Another in our party declared it "the worst Chinese food ever." We all agreed that we would have been better off going to Panda... More

If this is supposed to be one of the better Chinese restaurants on the Peninsula forget about it. Pleasant enough ambiance. Good enough service. Mediocre food. Hot and Sour soup was black pepper hot instead of ginger and red pepper. There are those who don't mind. We do. The pot stickers were nearly inedible. Heavy dough and tasteless pork. The... More

Once there were two. I had my wedding eve dinner at the Burlingame Ave location in the mid -90s with my family and handsome man. And when it moved, I thought I lost it. And I had. When I found it again, I was thrilled. Best fried rice and Moo Shu. So much to choose from. All good. And they... More

The restaurant is not a regular "Chinese Joint". The've located to their new "digs" on El camino Real. Its a lovely restaurant!!! We had the "Appt." plate for two, we shared Moo Shoo Pork and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Quite Nice but nothing special. Its worth the trip and the price. Of-course they have take-out!!

Went there recently with a group of 6. Had pot stickers, mushu pork, both good. Service was very good. I thought fried rice tasted bland and cashew chicken was light on the chicken. I have had hot and sour soup there that was very good. Overall was fine and I will go back but some dishes seem to be mediocre.

We have eaten at Gau Poang several times over the years and always have a good meal. The menu offers several choices of each throughout the spectrum, meats, fish, soups, noodles, vegetables, rice and appetizers. The meals have always been tasty and fresh and service has always been friendly and efficient.

Arrived at the airport and was heading to Palo Alto in the mood for Chinese so looked up TripAdvisor Had a very friendly greeting and ordered pot stickers and Mongolian Beef. The first were quite good but a little heavy. I had asked for the beef dish to be spicy but they didn't really take me up on it. The... More

One of my "go to" restaurants. Food is always fresh. The menu has a wide variety including the blander dishes for the elderly and spicy for the younger. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable for this area. The restaurant has a semi-private seating area with a table that seats up to 10, which is great... More

This restaurant has been here for many years and serves consistently good food at reasonable prices. The owners are always here and are watching over the dining room with a very capable wait staff. Food is always served hot and is very tasty. Have come here many times with my entire family of 10 and always leave happy. Free parking... More
