This is a small, simply furnished restaurant. Don't let the basic appearance fool you. Maybe this is how they keep the prices so low. Go for an adventure in tasting the best Vietnamese food around. If you don't mind fried food order the fabulous Saigon Style Pot Stickers! Order comes with four, one per person is the right amount. Rice... More

Been here frequently and enjoyed the pho, rolls, and vermicelli dishes. Service is quick but depending on who serves you, it's a hit or miss.

Had lunch on a Sunday. All the tables were full but the turn around seemed pretty decent. Was seated in about 10 minutes. The Imperial Rolls was good and it came with all the garnishing. The soup of the Pho was good but the steak could be more tender. The Chicken with Lemongrass wasn't that great. Service was mechanical; efficient... More

Picked up take out and was pleasantly surprised with the Saigon pot stickers. I've never had anything like them! Interesting meatball covered with fried sticky rice and spicy sweet sauce. We also ordered an imperial roll with grilled beef over vermicelli. The rolls were delicious and the beef was grilled well! The pickled vegetables were a bit sweet but overall... More

On a cool evening, pho is always a great meal choice. Saigon City in downtown San Mateo is a dependable choice because the soup stock is really good, and there's seldom a wait for a table. I always marvel how the staff can deliver extra large bowls of pho without spilling a drop. Saigon City is one of those dependable... More

I had been to Saigon City a couple years ago, was home on holiday's and felt like Pho for lunch. I've been trying various places in the area and Saigon City is what I consider one of the better ones. Stopped by around 1pm to get take-out Pho. The place was very busy with most tables occupied. Got my order... More

I had vegetarian Pho and it was excellent....Veggies were fresh, broth was nice and hot, sauce was great. The shrimp appetizer was very dry and tasty. I would recommend to families but the place is small so make sure you are willing to wait or carryout.

I try to come here once a week and usually eat the vietnamese crepe Banh Xeo, usually the vegetarian version. It is excellent and I recommend the place wholeheartedly.

This place has been around for years. As soon as you go into the place you will notice a lot of ethnic Vietnamese customers....a sure sign of authenticity. I hesitated with the 3 stars...I really like it better then that I just did not want to mislead. It is a very basic ambience. The menu is pretty thourough though. I... More

I ordered the medium rare beef meatballs with rare beef noodle soup. The first thing in any Vietnamese restaurant is to try the noodle soup; flavourful, well crafted beef broth with hints of star anise. The noodles were perfect, the medium filled me up for 6 hours. Good value for what you pay for. I have tried the chicken lemongrass... More
