Good but not as great as anticipated

We dined here on Thanksgiving, not realizing there was a special menu. I had already planned my meal, having spent time researching Viognier specialties so it was a bit disappointing having to settle for anything else - though all the food was delicious. Getting to the restaurant was a bit difficult. Draeger's Market was closed so we could not enter... More

Loved the variety of food and gin liquor collection. The duck board plate with duck bacon, confit & pate was outstanding. The tempura squash dish was very good. The server was friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent food, great ambiance, great wine pairings in the Peninsula. The Bay Area has some of the best dining options in the world (and I've been fortunate enough to have experienced much of the world), and Viognier offers very good food, nicely plated, in an upscale ambiance for a fun night out. Yes, it shares a building with an upscale... More

Maybe an off night. We eat here once a quarter with friends and it's usually really good. Service was good but not as crisp as usual this night. Bottle of wine came after our appetizer had arrived. That was odd. Shared a salad and flatbread before entree..nice but nothing spectacular. The cod with spinach was excellent but others had the... More

I was travelling to the South San Francisco area -- this restaurant was recommended by a friend. Great EXCLUSIVE and ROMANTIC dinner spot. Impressive wine list. Luckily I ate with a colleague who brought a bottle of 2004 Bordeaux from his cellar to share. Their corkage fee was $25. Dinner was exclusive, tasteful and flavor-rich. Leave room for their Trio... Very weird combination of good food, good wine (red too cold), clinical interior and strange location inside a super market. This restaurant certainly delivers good food from an extensive menu; the wine list is impressive, but they ran out of the red selected before the end of our dinner. Nevertheless the dining was great. Our private room was just that...... More

My first time to go for a business dinner event. it's a bit difficult to find as it's located on the 2nd floor of a grocery shop. However, it has a extensive list of wines to match your food. Tried Zuckerman’s Melon Salad. Very artistically structured first course. For entree, I had roasted duck leg. It was tender and lean.... More

I travel to San Mateo to visit our kids at least 3-4 times a year. Finding a decent restaurant is always a headache. Been here twice so far. Once on the Boxing day for dinner and liked it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it now serves lunch as well. After the recent fiasco of dining out 2... More

My friend reserved a valentine dinner for us last minute and they were nice enough to squeeze us in a day before valentine. But it's an early one since that's the only one available, Since it's an early one, there were very few customers yet it's so hard to find a waiter to wait on us. The food is good.... More

Over the years, I've eaten here. This visit was an unpleasant surprise. While the staff was gracious and the table looked very nice, the food was many steps down from what it had been. My companion and I had four dishes, three of which were not the gourmet experience expected. The very small caesar salad was built of four minute... More
