This establishment has always been a favorite of mine for their grilled fish. I was very much looking forward to the combination skewer, au gratin potatoes, coleslaw & hot bread. When we arrived at the restaurant there was nobody to greet us and our group of four were left waiting for several minutes before anyone showed up to seat us.... More

As a repeat customer it is very nice to know that you will get a very good and satisfying seafood meal. Service was very good with friendly and well trained staff. The menu selection is extensive. One should not go wrong in eating here

We have been dining here for 25 years. The fish is fresh, the service is fine, but the sides need an update. Tired of the same carrots, rice and the others. They have fresh catches so the fish changes from time to time, and we like that. Go for the 3lb lobster and split it! There is plenty.

I have always gotten sufficient portions and the quality has been erratic but good enough. I think it is overpriced for the quality of the fare.

For many years we always considered The Original Fish Company in Los Alamitos as the gold standard for seafood restaurants. FHV is right up there with them. We first learned of them when they had a place in Carlsbad. We dined there a number of times and even introduced our friends to FHV, We were very sad to learn they... More

Like many places in San Marcos, this restaurant was a bit on the pricey side. The food was very good and there was a large beer and wine selection.

On a saturday evening, the restaurant was not too crowded. The waitress was friendly and efficient and the foos was fresh and tasty. I chose the Green thresher Shark, not a fish I have eaten before. It was not as solid as a Swordfish but with a more flexible flesh. I liked it and would order it again.

The fish is great, I love the chairs on wheels, but the vegetables are served as in an institution. Fish is GREAT!

Fish house vera cruz use to have a location in carlsbad which was our local place. The rockefeller bread is a must have. It use to be on a heavenly sour dough loaf that was soft and chewy with a pull apart crust, they have changed the bread to a soft dinner roll type and although still delicious I really... More
