I honestly have to say, the Sangria and an evening at Luna Red on the patio is worth the wait (line can form on weekends), but eat elsewhere if you're hungry as they have recently moved to a tapas small portions deal that leaves me hungry... SLO Brew for a fab burger or pizza then relax on Luna patio...for a... More

We went into San Luis looking for a Chinese Restaurant which didn't exist and instead came upon Luna Red. We sat outside in the courtyard with heaters, which was very pretty and had a great atmosphere. The waitress was lovely. We are 4 small plates and paella. The dates wrapped in bacon and the short rib taco, and the warm... More

I recently ate at Luna Red on my first visit to San Luis Obispo and the whole experience was a delight. Four of us ate there, sharing a variety of plates, every one delicious. Standouts were the four cheeses, the rock fish ceviche, the pickled eggs, and the Manila clams. Service was fantastic -- our server was attentive, accommodating, and... More

If you find yourself in San Luis Obispo of an evening, lucky you. You may then want to eat something, in which case your fortune just got greater as Luna Red is close by. The food is a reflection of SLO's connection to the land around it. Fresh produce and wine have played a significant part in the towns development. Combine... More

I had the butter lettuce salad and my husband had the Cuban sandwich. While my salad was good, I did not think it was worth $13 but my husband LOVED his Cuban.

Unique Spanish restaurant wit tapas and mostly small plates. However, the paella is amazing. Should give it a try. The "Tequila Verde" margarita is amazing!! Very nice patio and open firepit.

Stopped in for a Happy Hour snack. The red wine was delicious - the portions were very small. Which is actually a plus for me!

We love this restaurant -- wish we had one back home just like it. Very interesting cocktail menu with lots of unusual ingredients. The tapas/small plate menu had lots of choices. We loved the roasted figs, the lamb rolls, and the beets. Save room for the olive oil cake -- although, really, I loved the chocolate cake too. The outdoor... More

Found this gem while stopping in S.L.O. to visit the mission. Happened to roll in just at Happy Hour (3-6 daily and all day on Thursday). They have a great selection of small plates for $5 at the bar and high tops. We've tried the short rib tacos and black bean and rice fritters in avocado-pepita pesto sauce. Delicious. For... More

From house-cured duck prosciutto and local goat cheese, to tapas that include such gems as stuffed piquillo peppers or arancini balls, served with local mushrooms, leeks and a tomato jam— and those are just the starter plates. For an entrée, you’ll have a hard time deciding—we offer dishes from around the world such as Portuguese seafood stew with housemade chorizo or Korean style short ribs with housemade kimchee. We have something for every discerning palate. Each selection combines a perfect balance of flavors and represents a kaleidoscope of cuisines. Warm yourself. Delight in luna red.
