But the services lagged a little. All restaurants are changing in response to the pandemic, and this place has the advantage of a great outdoor plaza. They were busy, the night before Thanksgiving, which was good to see. I'm not sure if the were understaffed...or just beat luck with our server. This is one of several restaurants owned by an experienced management group that has a number of places in town, so I have high expectations. My wife had the SLO Bowl with shrimp and I had the steak asada, both of which were tasty and properly sized for dinner. We split a dark chocolate torte for dessert, which was suitable rich. Drinking water, with tax and tip, the total was about $89.More

Family agreed this was the best dinner of our entire vacation in San Luis Obispo & we ate at really good restaurants. I was not brave enough to try it, but rest of my family had the paella with squid ink & said it was...by far the best meal of our trip. Bacon wrapped dates, ceviche, & skirt steak were also outstanding.More

Luna Red has a gorgeous patio for outdoor dining suring the times of covid. The waitstaff was very friendly and helped us navigate the wine list - we ended up self-touring the Edna Valley wine trail on JP's recommendation. Food here was delicious and I...still dream about the bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with chorizo (add the goat cheese!) Luna Red offers brunch and a variety of drinks and if I lived in SLO, I'd likely be a regular here.More

My wife and I ordered six items to share and everything was delicious. Service was very good, as was the wine list. Recommended dining in SLO.

We ordered seafood paella which was okay, kind of bland...the octopus was burnt and the seafood did not seem to have been cooked with the rice. The appetizer board had tiny portions with 2 small pieces of cheese, a few olives and almonds, a sweet...fruit jam and sliced sausage. The Papas Bravas were tasty.More

Liked the restaurant atmosphere but did not like the food. Three of us (two woman and one man) ordered one of the restaurants signature paella’s that we all shared. There was enough food for all of us but the paella was over cooked. The rice...was crispy and the seafood overdone, very disappointing. For us the service was not very good.More

This was a great restaurant! The atmosphere was quaint being next to the San Luis Obispo mission. We enjoyed a tapas-style dinner. We had the tuna ceviche, 2 orders of the bacon wrapped dates, the shishito peppers, and 2 sangria roja drinks. It was likely...during happy hour, and the total was around $50. We really loved the tuna and dates! Take the time to enjoy a meal here.More

The taquitos and watermelon and cucumber salad were a great way to start the meal. We tried the octopus, shrimp and quinoa....so good. There were 4 of us, and we shared the seafood paella. It was plenty. The restaurant is located in downtown SLO, and...has a great following.More
