Been here a handful of times. They always manage to mess up my order, even when I'm literally the only customer in the restaurant. They will also charge you for refills of drinks and not tell you at the time of refill.

Very low key and casual seeming Mediterranean delivers delicious food and ultra friendly service. Conveniently located. Great food options. And did I mention the great, friendly service?

We wanted to eat at a restaurant near Moussaka, but the wait was way too long. So we walked around the area and found Moussaka. Everyone enjoyed their food choice...the roasted gold & red beet salad was excellent as was the appetizer, corn meal crusted...calamari. We were glad we happened in to Moussaka.More

Moussaka Mediterranean Kitchen offers dishes from many different countries in the Mediterranean region, making it an interesting and fun restaurant. We share the grilled octopus appetizer which was amazing with lots of lemon, oregano and caper berries. We also had - The Hunkar Beyendi -...a base of Roasted Eggplant Puree topped with Lamb and served with rice. Very tasty with a nice roasted eggplant flavor and generous serving of lamb. The veal scaloppine in a dry wine cream sauce with caper berries and sautéed asparagus was served on creamy garlic mashed potatoes - outstanding flavors. We'll be back!More

As I wine lover, I love that this place has a great wine list. They have a variety of old and new world wines available (including my absolute favorite: Meursault). Great ambiance: perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. Service is also very good. Will...definitely return soon.More

Food presentation was excellent, as were the menu choices. Food and service were good, but the restaurant appeared understaffed when we dined there recently. The servings were quite large and sharing of entrees and salads will be considered if/when we return.

I've lived in the Middle East, and this is one of the best M.E. themed restaurants I've found in the East Bay. It's an extensive menu, with much more than the usual hummus-and-pita offerings. Everything I've ordered has been delicious. The only gripe - and...it is a serious one - is that parking is extremely limited. Be prepared to park on the street a bit away and walk.More

I had lunch with a friend here last month and it was very good. Prices are mid range and we brought my two year old. Service was good and my two year old did well.

We've eaten here for both lunch and dinner, numerous times. We've enjoyed every meal at Moussaka, and especially love that you get a lot of food! Their rice is the best I've ever had and I could eat a plate of it alone. Everything is...good and you will never leave hungry.More

My son and I went here for brunch last Sunday. Though the restaurant was fairly empty, they set us at a tiny table. I ordered an omelette. It was overcooked and dry. My son had the French Toast....also dry. I had a cup of coffee...and I was never asked for a refill. Other than that, service was good. Will probably try again for Mediterranean food.More

The food is very good and the service is excellent. I've had the Mousaka twice and really enjoyed. My husband had a shishkebab and said it was ok, but not fabulous.

A friend invited me to Sunday brunch, raving about this new Mediterranean restaurant in San Leandro. From the name Moussaka, I assumed it's specialty was Greek food. Was I ever wrong! The restaurant itself is very pleasant, on a corner with lots of windows, sunny...and nicely appointed. However, I was very disappointed in the food. Their breakfast and brunch menu is extensive but I was in the mood for Greek food. I ordered a Beef and Lamb Gyro, strips of meat with lettuce, tomato, red onion, wrapped in what is usually a soft pita bread and smothered in a delicious Greek sauce. I also ordered a side of rice. The Gyro was a great disappointment. The meat was cut extremely thin and overcooked to the point of being almost hard. The pita bread was okay – barely. It was not soft and chewy as is usual. The greatest disappointment was the sauce, my favorite part of the sandwich. A true Greek sauce would have been made with a tangy yogurt, garlic and tahini sauce. The sauce served with this travesty of a sandwich tasted a bit like thousand Island dressing, cut with mayo and a touch of tahini. Even the rice, which looked like nice pilaf, was tasteless and enhanced only slightly with salt. In fairness, my friend enjoyed her crab Benedict. The restaurant serves beer and wine but has nothing else on their menu and when I asked what else I might order to drink the waiter looked blank. From comments of other reviewers I gather the restaurant caters to Middle Eastern food – and possibly does a good job of it. But for good or authentic Greek food, go elsewhere.More
