Nice restaurant, nice ambiance. Had a lovely time. Food is very average. I had a friend who is a great cook of Mexican food and this was very average.

I loved the look and feel of this restaurant. Being from Colorado this was my first visit to San Juan Capistrano. This restaurant fit the feel of the city. It was interesting that the Nixon's had dined here. The food was average food that you can find at any American/Mexican restaurant. The service was fast but not friendly. If you... More

The restaurant is part old Adobe and part modern. Former President Nixon and the First Lady were frequent visitors and you can sit in their seats. I dare say that nobody is around who served the President but the service is excellent. Charming location, history and great service so what about the food? Many people opt for the fajitas and... I met some family here for lunch. It was supposed to be the best food in the area, according to them, but I wasn't impressed. The surrounding street and area is beautiful, the Mission, the shops, the outdoor cafes, to die for, but El Adobe, I'd pass. I ordered a la carte, a chicken taco, charro beans and rice. That's... My husband and I always go to El Adobe when visiting San Juan Capistrano because of the excellent service and amazing food! This time was no exception. I had the El Adobe Burger it was fabulous. The best burger ever. Their salsa is super tasty and the chips are fresh. My husband had a chorizo brunch entre and both of... More

Fabulous dining spot. Multi-level restaurant just a tad down for mission San Juan Capistrano. All menu items deliver the flavors you would expect. Service is quick, professional, efficient, courteous, and competent. Full bar does well with all drinks. Service is good even when very busy. Slightly expensive for Mexican cuisine, but you get what you pay for. Don't miss it... More

I had shrimp enchiladas and they were SUPERIOR. The beans and rice served along side were super, with a dipper of guacamole. I love grungy Mexican restaurants and this is any thing but. I lived on a boat in nearby Dana Point for a year and visited this place a lot 35 years ago, and it's just gotten better if... More

We decided to take a day trip down to beautiful San Juan Capistrano to walk through the mission gardens and check out the local antique shop. What would a day in SJC be without stopping for a tasty Mexican lunch? We arrived just before the lunch rush began and were seated in the outdoor area. I always say that you... More

If you have not been here, this is one of the oldest places around where the Hollywood socialites came for great food and still do. They even have a dish named after President Nixon. One of my favorites is the Chili Releno, so fresh and full of spicy flavor. Miguel who is the head bartender and been there for 40... More

My husband and I were going to celebrate our wedding anniversary at home but the Laguna Fire made everything too smoky to have fun. So we ended up here. So glad we did! We ordered appetizers and never got to the main meal! Shrimp cocktail was in a HUGE goblet... enough for four people. I loved it. It tasted like... More
