The history of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, "I like nothing better than being a good host." Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Since that time, the

The oysters were great as was the clam chowder. The service was perfect. Nice downtown San Jose location. Lots of lunch and happy hour specials throughout the week. Good place to get nice meals for a good price if you call and ask what’s going...More

Dining room nearly empty (Super Bowl in progress) so you’d think it was a time to shine. The fish dishes were adequate, no more. It was convenient to our hotel, but at their prices and without kitchen stress, Come on Man.

Appetizer (walnut salad) and desert (chocolate cake) were delicious, also the wine list showed some pretty interesting red wines. The reason for downrating the restaurant were the expensive but terrible main course - it was just cold - and the unacceptable waiting time (40 minutes...More

Excellent place for a Christmas meal. We decided to do something different this year and went out to lunch. In the past, we always entertained at home. Downtown San Jose was beautiful and all the Christmas decorations were right across the street. The food was...More

You can definitely find great steaks here! Service was nice and the atmosphere was cosy. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were nice sides as well.
