Old standby

Emile's is a long standing go-to place to eat. I don't like driving to downtown San Jose that much, so don't visit the place very often. But, that being said, if I have a reason to go downtown, that's where I like to eat.

Emile's is an old, old standby for us. It provides an elegant European atmosphere with excellent food. Meals are not rushed and the place encourages leisurely dining. It's also proved an excellent venue for large business dinners with a private dining room available for booking

My husband and I and another couple went there before attending the Opera. Our server Carlos was very professional and was able to reccomend an excellent bottle of wine for our dinner. My friend and I had the Duck and out husbands had the Filet Trio. The mests were prepared perfectly and the sauces were to die for. The vegetanles... More

This used to be spectacular and a completely wonderful experience...10 years ago...The chef visitied the dining room and the owner always had a nice bottle of wine to suggest. In the last 1-8 years we have wasted way too much money on a dying mess. The service was cozy and yet refined with key personell that seemed to have known... More

The main dishes were quite good (one filet of trout, one vegetarian), and I enjoyed the excellent beet/gorgonzola salad. The restaurant does not offer a simple salad of fresh greens and refused to make one(this would never happen in Paris!). Nor do they have reasonably priced French or Italian wines by the glass. They had to open a St. Emilion,... More

Great food, atmosphere seems dodgy to me for the prices.

Good food, though I think it may have been better under the original owner. Was nearly empty last time I ate there. Too bad as it is still worth visiting.

Emile's offers a cosy French ambiance, which feels and tastes like true French cuisine. It is intimate, and until May 15th, they have this exhibit of a French artist called "3 days in Paris". Stunning photographs to match great food. A must see.

I'd like to be able to say how good the food was, or how attentive the service was, but the unfortunate fact is that we didn't even make it inside. I had made a reservation for Valentine's Day more than 2 weeks in advance - but it looks like Emile's doesn't deal well with 'popularity'... We arrived just before 8PM... More
