This is a historical place. You order in the bar and wait for them to can your names to get a table. Food starts coming right after you get seated. Good BBQ. You can see the cooks from many tables. Services is friendly.

Nothing fancy or to write home about. Goo basic barbecue at the reasonable price. Usually a wait for service, but good bar for waiting.Survives on nostalgia of long time patrons and reputation.

My partner and I always visit when on a road trip. No frills, good steaks. Take a number ask, tell them how you want it, get seated, fantastic steak. Job done.

Had been there once before and wasn’t impressed. As a native from Santa Clara, this place definitely has its history and seems popular. I elected to try it again with the family and was very disappointed based on our outing. When you walk in, you’re...More

Coming from Kansas, I know my BBQ. This is just ok. Nice location, good service, cool ambiance, casual and clean, but wouldn’t go back for the BBQ.

I really wanted to love this place. The building has a lot of character and I love the casual vibe of hanging out in the bar area before you get seated. However, if you're looking for a variety of great BBQ options, this might not...More

Our first visit to The Hi Life but I’d make the 1 hour drive to eat here again. You walk into the bar area and grab a red tag with a number on it. One of the Hostess calls your number and takes your order...More

All the reviews are on spot. You have to get there early as it was jammed. Their system is quite effective. You get a red ticket, they call you and you order. You wait for your table and then get called. Now it is a...More

Have been going to the Hi life for 40 years. Love their spare ribs and whatever butter concoction they put on the baked potato, and the french bread.

We have eaten here often and it never disappoints. Food is consistently great, which isn’t always the case at other places. If you are in town, you can see a piece of local history and have some great BBQ.

yes. There are meters that end at about 6:00 PM and parking across the street as well. The earlier you can go the better. The wait can be long around the normal dinber times but it is well worth the wait. Try some of the... More

There is plenty of street parking if there ISN'T a game/event at the nearby SAP Arena, home of the San Jose Sharks hockey team. You might want to call ahead and check.
