We wanted to try Babita after reading so many outstanding reviews. The chef used to work at the Brown Derby, so he is applying his knowledge of French cooking to Mexican food. The food was all very fresh. We enjoyed the double soups in a single...More

All the warmth of a small family restaurant combined with refined Mexican cooking from a chef constantly experimenting with new tastes. He is known for his 'double soups': one part fruit based and the other vegetable, roasted peaches being the base of one half of...More

I have gone several times. I would go today, but they are closed for a couple days. Can't wait til they get back. This is one of the best restaurants around.

A fine treat if you're in to Mexican food, yet want something a little more refined. Thoroughly enjoyed the owners take and adventurous take on traditional Mexican dishes; all delightfully presented and a joy to eat; good beverage selection too.

Don't expect traditional mexican but a great mexican cooking with inventive, capacity and an hearty eye to Mexico. Cozy and family ambience. Her, him and their daughter. Guava soup, pork dressed with cactus leaves, outstanding dessert. It pays a drive to San Gabriel. Enjoy.

After my fourth visit over a period of years, I continue to think this is the best Mexican cuisine outside of Mexico (and possibly IN Mexico). Chef Roberto produces inventive, delicious delicacies to delight diners at this small, unpretentious place in an unlikely locale. He...More

The only restaurant that compares is Casa Oaxaca....in Oaxaca Mexico; so if you can't make the trip....head down to San Gabriel (of all places). Chef Roberto only uses the very best ingredients in whatever dishes he prepares, the finest sea foods and meats...his soups are...More

Fine food, tasty surprising combinations, beautiful presentation in a very small family-run restaurant in an offbeat location. Mexican food does not get better—anywhere (I live in New Mexico and travel to Mexico). Not cheap, but a fair price for the quality. Wine and beer only.
