Miss Shan my Chinese friend and I had business in San Gabriel and drove from LA,whilst in the city she suggested one of her favorite eating spots, apparently it has changed the name to Five Star Seafood Restaurant and can be found in a mall on the 4th Floor. We arrived a little before 1pm on a weekday and I was astonished... This place (now called Five Star Seafood Restaurant) is located on the top floor of a mall and is a relatively large Chinese restaurant. On weekends, this is a busy, noisy and crowded place for dim sum with potentially long lines to get a table. If you're looking for a quiet place to get lunch, then this is not for... More

Initially, this place started as a Sam Woo, but has gone through a couple reincarnation with the latest as 5 Star Seafood Restaurant. While the location is prime, parking sucks at San Gabriel Square due to patrons fighting for space to visit one of the numerous restaurants or 99 Ranch Market. This is one of few dim sum restaurants that... More

Wonderful early morning spot. Got there with my spouse about 9:15 a.m. and thought it was too early, but when we left an hour or so later, the place was packed and a long waiting line at the door. I like the selection; my spouse liked the stuffed eggplants and baked pork turnovers (Charzu So--phonetic). Everything was wonderful and very... More

I was introduced to this tasty delight by my partner's family that have been going to this establishment for many years. I was floored that the prices are so inexpensive and the food so scrumptious! Go for brunch but arrive early you wont regret taking the time if not only for the early morning selection.

I love getting dim sum here. In all fairness, it can get busy some days, but if you catch it on an off day, you can definitely snag a table quickly and get yourself some good dim sum. Located on the fourth floor, you have to most likely put your name down for the next available table. Once you are... More

Since my children were only free from work late, my son who lives locally suggested to come here. An adv lobster special $2.99 a pound was great attraction. Many varieties of dishes to choose, there's always something for each one. As it was a traditional dinner for my daughter who just married, I had to order 8 dishes. Our menu... More

Went there with my sister and teenage kids. My nephew was initially hesitant but by the end of the meal he was very happy! We had 3lb lobster for $1.99/lb and it was delicious as well as noodles, soup, lamb chops and dessert for all under $60. The food was flavorful. The service was good. The price was reasonable. And... It has been a couple of years since this business has changed its name to FIVE STAR SEAFOOD RESTAURANT. Location unchanged. This is a revisit review for late dinner after 930pm. I have reviewed this restaurant on October 31, 2011 for dinner at lunch prices. Same upscale Cantonese attitude seafood restaurant. They have tidied up some unkempt sections of the... More

Because of competition, the price of dim sum in the area is pretty cheap. I was in the bay area area and some of the dishes are $4 a dish. Over here they are $1.35 on every dish, large, medium or small, Monday through Friday. So the price i right. The quality is average and service is not bad. For... More
