There are a lot of choices in San Carlos for dinner, including multiple for Italian food. Virtually all have tasty food and pleasant atmosphere which frankly makes it a bit difficult to differentiate. Our experience on this occasion places Pranzi right in the middle of...those choices. Our meals were fine and the server was friendly. Nothing was "outstanding" and nothing was "terrible". A couple suggestions for management: Train the servers so that they know to bring the evening's beverage before the first course and instruct them to offer pepper from a pepper grinder and not just to bring salt and pepper shakers to the table and to offer parmesan cheese for pasta.More

There are just soooo many good restaurants on the Peninsula. Searching for an Italian was not hard though. There are many but this place makes their pasta fresh! Found this last minute and making reservations was not hard. It was pretty packed, but tables are...properly spaced out and there’s a nice outdoor seating area with heat lamps. My party and I shared a Caesar salad, shrimp apps, and then we each had an entrée. I had the squid ink pasta which was delish. I was definitely eyeing my bff’s salmon though. Talk about good portions! We brought our own wine and I believe corkage was $25. Our waitress was awesome, although I forgot her name. ☹ Only thing I’d say is parking can be hard to find. Allow yourself some time so you can park and walk over.More

Delicious, quality, affordable Italian food. From appetizer to dessert we enjoyed every bite! We had red snapper, lasagne, and the vodka pasta. Bruschetta and Affogato and Apple crepe. All really tasty. Service was quick and great! Decor was eye pleasing too. Nice atmosphere. Not quiet,...but lively. Truly enjoyed this dining experience.More

The food was just average. Though the service was good no one in our group was impressed. The sauces on the pasta dishes was a bit too heavy

I liked this place, but it’s average. The steak risotto was fantastic and the service was nice. It’s just one of those places that don’t stick in my mind so I don’t think I’d repeat in the future.

Friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. There are so many good restaurants on Laurel Street, but Pranzi is exceptional. We’ve had their lasagne and veal dishes. Perfect sauces on both. Looking forward to exploring the rest of their menu.

It was a dark and stormy night and the fireplace and cozy ambiance drew us in. At 6 pm on a Thursday there were plenty of tables spaced well for good conversation, the wait staff was very attentive, and our dinner was outstanding. I wanted...a light supper which I thought would be predictable, but have never had a filet of sole that was so large and succulent, with beautifully prepared, still-crisp veggies and perfectly roasted potatoes. For a San Francisco Bay Area restaurant, I was not surprised by the price. we rarely eat out and this was a birthday dinner fit for a queen. Thank you!More

New Years Eve- One of the few restaurants that does not keep you waiting. On top of their reservation system. Great decor for the holiday season but my guess is it is decorative all year round. Menu had slightly higher prices for the holiday-at least...not a fixed holiday price menu. Disappointed in my salad-beet salad had no noticeable dressing; beets were simply cubed probably previous frozen beets though my wife enjoyed her pear salad. Limited wine list though we found a tasty reasonably priced chardonnay, Entrees were good- wife had shrimp and lobster pasta and I had veal piccata. Good but pricey desert menu. Service a bit underwhelming had to ask for pepper and a knife, All in all for a holiday night quite pleased.More

Went with another couple and sat outside. Comfortable seating but right on the sidewalks. The food was good quality with the vegetables a little over cooked. All in all tasty but relatively expensive.

My wife and I were looking for a great restaurant nearby and were told about this restaurant from the Marriott residence. We were looking for late lunch/early dinner we were very happy as they are open all afternoon. After a very warm welcome upon entry...we ordered. Starting with a delicious pear Gorgonzola salad. If you like veal there’s is superb! Save room for dessert you won’t be disappointed. There’s also lovely seating outside. So we returned the following day to see how consistent they were. Well just as wonderful!! Can’t wait to return!!More

Best Italian food in San Carlos! Service is attentive and friendly. The interior is nicely furnished and doesn't feel crammed at all. Most importantly, the food is solidly good - we had the burrata bruschetta, squid ink spaghetti with seafood as well as their standard...spaghetti pasta with Bolognese sauce. All three were flavorful, well-balanced, and a reasonable sized portion. We're looking forward to coming back again - glad to have a great Italian spot close to home!More

Dinner with kids on week night. Service was warm but completely disorganized. Food was generic and not inspiring. Prices are quite reasonable.

A former they friend from NY took us to Pranzi. We had an excellent Frita Mista starter (calamari and zucchini) followed by excellent veal dishes. We were charged a very reasonable $20 corkage for a magnum of Barolo we brought. Good service and authentic food....Highly recommended for the veal dishes especially.More

The food and service was fantastic! The night we dined, the restaurant was short staff. That did not deter from the service-our waitress was so friendly and managed to take care of all the guests without losing that smile and friendliness. The food was excellent....Had the special risotto and it was so delicious. Perfect Italian rice, porcini mushrooms with a hint of black truffle-wonderful. The portions were generous. The food was so fresh. Definitely a bit of Italy right in "our own backyard"!More
