Stopped in for lunch. Had nice table in window. Food and service were great. I had the soup and sandwich special with cookie! Good location and reasonably priced!

I ordered the Market Salad ($13) and it did not come with any of the toppings that it said on the menu. No bacon, no blue cheese, no avocado (my favorite) and I'm not sure if it even had the mustard vinaigrette as the salad was very dry. My husband ordered a sandwich which he loved! My recommendation: Stay clear... More

I ordered the Market Chopped Salad without bacon. Unfortunately, it also came without the hardboiled egg, the blue cheese nor avocado. Very plain. I suspect it was also missing the mustard vinegrette. Of course, since it was just salad without any toppings, I was still hungry and needed to order dessert which I usually don't do. The server never came... More

We didn't want to wait for a dinner reservation (dinner times fill up very fast). So went for a late lunch (around 4 pm). Food was good but very pricey. You can order a very fresh farm egg with any meal.. I had a risotto with an egg on top. The grilled peach appetizer with ricotta was good, but very,... More

My family had lunch at Market, there were 9 of us. This is the second family gathering at this restaurant after a couple of years. Selection of food choices is really great! Whether you are having a salad, sandwich or entree you cannot go wrong. The portions are ample but not overwhelming. Nice beer and wine selection as well. Service... More

Will definitely be back. Started with the Lobster Rolls in Rice paper - they were incredible. We joked about coming back and getting 3 orders for lunch. Very light and tasty. I had the Champagne Battered Fish n' Chips. The fish tasted wonderful and the fries nice and crisp. The fish could have been cooked a little longer - one... More

I'm thrilled that you and your husband loved your meals from start to finish! It sounds like the lobster rolls were a highlight, and I'm so glad to hear it. What's more, the butterscotch pudding is a favorite around here, so it's great to know you so enjoyed it too! Come again soon. Thanks, Ernesto, Owner More

While walking around St. Helena we found this lunch location on HY 29 in the business district. It was crowded for lunch so we ate at the bar. The service was very good. Modestly prices with the wife having a salad and I have mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was not quite as good as I hoped.

While I'm glad that you were impressed by our service, I'm sorry to hear the mac and cheese wasn't quite as good as you had hoped for. We usually do get good feedback on that dish, so I'm not sure what happened this time. However, I'd love a second chance at showing you a better meal, so I hope you'll... More

We went to Market for a combination lunch and brunch this past Sunday in August. We had made reservations a couple days ahead of time, which proved to be a good idea, but I saw a couple of walk-ins be seated timely as well. I ordered the chilled heirloom tomato gazpacho and the wedge salad. My friend had the Chilaquiles... More

I'm so glad that you enjoyed our brunch, Carrie, or should I say lunch? Either way, I'm thrilled that you liked the wedge salad and the gazpacho. That said, I'm of course sorry if the latter was a tad underseasoned, but I do appreciate the feedback. What's more, I can't wait to see you both here again -- until then!... More

This is a restaurant you can go to overnight of the week and get excited about the menu. The Monday night special is Prime Rib and it never disappoints. Starter favorites are the fried calamari and beef medallions. Salad favorites are the chopped salad and the tomato and watermelon salad. The fried chicken will bring back memories of Sunday dinners... More

It's always great to see you, Cynthia, and I'm so glad that you've always enjoyed a meal here -- no matter what day of the week it is! What's more, saying our fried chicken dish brings back memories of home means a lot, and I'm happy to hear it. Thanks, and see you soon! Ernesto, Owner More

So we are in St. Helena, the middle of Napa Valley, wine country. We brought a 2001 high end Cabernet. You would think they would know how to decant a good bottle of wine. The server proceeded to dump the wine into the decanter before we could react, emptying it, sediment and all. We said something to her, and she... More

This is obviously disappointing, and I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal here and if we decanted your wine incorrectly. We're known for our fresh and flavorful food, so I'm not sure what happened to the gazpacho and filet mignon, as both of those dishes usually get great feedback. As for the wine, I'm very sorry that happened, and... More

Market Restaurant offers an elegant yet comfortable dining experience. Located on Main Street in St. Helena, the historical building features exposed stone walls and an antique bar dating back to the turn of the century. The menu features American classics with a fresh seasonal approach and the wine list offers a diverse selection of wines to complement Chef's creations, with an emphasis on wines from local Napa Valley vintners. In addition to a locally inspired and reasonably priced wine list, Market never charges corkage.
