Fantastic comfort food in an outdoor setting. Being from the south, I was skeptical about the restaurants availability to deliver comfort food in a California setting. However, after my first bite into their cheddar biscuits with ham, I was pleasantly surprised. Fresh and flavorful were...the best words to describe their menu with delicious wine to pair with the meal as well. Portions were plentiful and remember to add bacon to their Mac n cheese. It is a Devine combination!More

There are real reasons that restaurants get good ratings. This restaurant, which I have visited before, continues to excel in all areas, even during Covid times. My husband and I made reservations for last Thursday for lunch. (Reservations are a must during Covid times.) Pleasant...hostess and fabulous waitress, Diedre. We sat outside on a lovely day at a table well separated from others. Everyone wore masks and the restaurant was imaculate. We enjoyed Iced tea, coffee, and split a WONDERFUL burger with great bacon, and an order of fresh Brussels sprouts which apparenty were grown in the garden at the restuarant. For dessert, we enjoyed the best beignets ever! Everything was perfect -- and a real plus for Covid times. This restuant takes customers and their food seriously. No wonder this place rates so well. And yes, I will be back!!!~More

My friends chose this place and I was pleasantly impressed. Because of the pandemic, face masks are required. There was ample pacing between tables. Heaters are available. The staff was friendly. The food was superb. I loved the tomato soup. Ample parking.

Service and food is fantastic at Farmstead and it was a great dinner meal to kick off our mini-moon. We ordered the steak tartare which was so delicious. Entree wise we had lamb shank and the sole, both of which were so tasty. The chocolate...creme pie we had for dessert was light and had the perfect amount of sweetness. We ate outdoors in the evening but the heat lamp kept us cozy throughout dinner. Staff was friendly and our server was so patient with us as we made decisions on food. Reservations were easy to make online and we were able to snag a same-day reservation on a weekday. Safety precautions were in place as tables appeared properly distanced, guests were asked to keep mask on except at table and staff also wore masks. Highly recommend if you're looking for a sophisticated dinner in wine country!More

My wife and have made it a tradition to lunch in the wine country on Veterans Day to celebrate our anniversary. With covid we wanted to be safe, dine outside but taste high quality food. Check Please on KQED pointed us here Service was great....Because it was our anniversary the mgr met us with two nice glasses of Schramsberg champagne. Wife wanted burrata and steak tartare. The burrata came with whole roasted garlic, estate olive oil, bread and pickled onions and cornichons. Steak tartare was first rate, coming from their grass fed beef, with a fresh egg I had the brick cooked chicken with cannelini beans and greens. Delicious, moist and cooked to perfection Wine list is very expensive, so i had a glass of their estate cab. Ink black in color, perfect match with the meal and it had the sophisticated taste one expects of an estate Napa wine As others say it was not cheap, but today in the Bay Area it is nearly impossible to get a cheap first rate meal. It was our entertainment for the day. We ate open leisurely for an hour and a half in Sta Helena, felts save from covid. Service staff are very knowledgable about the sources. We have brought many friends to this place many times. And always, they tell us they will be back. We started with a dozen fresh oysters and a plate of burrata cheese and roasted garlic with toast. The Rosé made from pinot grapes paired perfectly....I had the arugula salad (because I was still working on the burrata cheese). My husband had his burger, and our guests shared the ribs. We could tell they were enjoying them. For dessert, we had the beignets with hot bourbon caramel sauce, a warm chocolate chip cookie, and the Scharfenberger chocolate pie. All these went well with coffee. Our server was gracious and attentive. The staff were all friendly and such great hosts, from the people who greeted us outside to the person who brought us to our table. We love these folks!More

Most expensive lunch of my entire life. We looked at the menu and most of the entrees were priced around $30. When the server told us about the “special” she described the ribeye as a smaller portion for lunch. I ordered it and it was...a standard ribeye cooked as ordered, nothing special or memorable. Then I got the bill, $60 for a steak, I also purchased an appetizer and a drink so my bill was $100 for lunch. I felt bamboozled, seriously if you are pushing an entree on people that’s double the price of anything else on the menu you need to let people know upfront.More

A friend suggested a stop here on way to Calistoga. We ordered take out. While we waited for the order we walked the floating pumpkin display and then relaxed in the garden. I’ll return just for another order of the trout. My son will return...to watch the squirrels eat pumpkin and drink from the fountain.More
