Just like most of us here, I have been going to Kico‘a for YEARS. Luis and his wife made us feel like we were the only ones there, I’m sure everyone felt the same way. They watched my daughter grow up and she’s now 37...years old. Everyone was on a first name basis. I absolutely can say that restaurant was apart of our lives. It has changed a bit the food is simply not the same, even the margaritas (they we’re famous) just aren’t the same which is truly a ashame! It’s second rate and that’s so sad it shouldn’t be this way. Very sadMore

As an exchange student from Denmark I was introduced to Mexican food here....and it has become a lifelong addiction - of the good kind. Now I travel 10000 miles once a year to visit, and always I have to go to Kiko's. Great place, nice...atmosphere (not at least when going there as a family - also with smaller kids) and the friendliest of staff...and most of all the food is just heavenly. I do like their chili rejanos quite a lot, but also the other things on the menu are sublime - I always get the way too big beef combination platter, which allows you to sample the very best of Mexican cusine. ...Not to forget: their margaritas are very good as well.More

I have been coming to Kico's since the mid 1980s.They serve excellent Mexican comfort food. Its great to see the owners wandering around that I remember from years ago.Chips and salsa are yummy and your bowl is never empty. The margaritas are huge and well priced.Decor is...a little dated, but that is what makes this place charming. Its like an old familiar friend.More

I know most people rate this place average, but I believe it’s a lot more than that. If you rate it on the outside and inside decor it’s just average. I usually don’t care about that, it just means this place has history in Sacramento....The family has been serving great Mexican food for as long as I have been in Sacramento in mid 90’s. Everything from the chips and salsa to the great Margaritas that come in a pitcher if you like. The one item that stands out to our family if the straight chili on the menu. I think they mix Chili Colorado with Chili Verde and it’s out of this world. It comes in a bowl with lots of meat and the wonderful sauce the mix. They make fresh handmade tortillas to go with it and man it’s an experience every time. Love the fact that I see familiar faces from the family that owns it every time I visit. This place is awesome and please try it you will not be disappointed.More

If you want good, standard Mexican food, Kiko's is your place. Sure, there are some negative reviews about this place. And for a while these review kept us from visiting. But we'd run out of new places in our area and we decided to check...them out. The restaurant feels a little tired, but the menu is upbeat. The staff were nice and helpful, but not overly. We waited about 20 minutes to get our take-out food. We ordered cheese enchiladas and Baja fish tacos. The meal came with a bag of chips and a large cup of salsa. These were just fine. The salsa had just the right amount of heat and bite, tasted freshly made. The chips were still warm when we got home. The Baja fish tacos were good. My wife gave them 3/5 stars and said the fish tasted a little over cooked. But she said she could tell the tortillas were freshly made. My cheese enchiladas were really good actually. There are many kinds of enchilada sauce and this sauce was a classic. I really enjoyed them. The beans and rice for both plates were standard. Cheese enchiladas 4/5 stars. We both thought that 12 to 13 bucks per plate was a little pricy for what we got. The restaurant has ample parking and there were quite a few people eating there. We'll go back and eat in the restaurant in the future and see how things differ. All in all 3.5 stars, good, standard, Mexican food.More

Kicos has been in business over thirty five years, and rightly so. The service is top notch , fast and courteous. The food is made with all the best ingredients, served in large portions ,and pleasing in presentation. I reccomend the Chile Rejeno/ Chicken enchilada...combo plate with Rice , beans , and salad at $13 its the best! They serve the biggest margaritas in Sacramento , and they put plenty of Tequila in each one. Great atmosphere, a definite 5 star establishment.More

Had to go here because another restaurant had closed. Driven by their ad at the convention center and the restaurant almost daily. We decided to try it. Wow! What a great find. The decor is dated but so what. The food and the service was...excellent. Someone's review talked of the bean dip, we were not disappointed. Not to mention the pitchers of margarita's. Our waiter(s) was personable and patient, as it was our first time and had lots of questions. Definitely going again, even the one that came from Roseville.More

I used to go to Kico's for many years, as was a landmark and stopped going but went back again to try. Just not the same since the children took over, rice and refried beans were cold, guacamole was terrible, looked like was from a...blender as was the salsa with big chucks of tomatoes ends, this place is were I learned to love carnitas, but now bland with no flavor, suppose to be strong on garlic and citrus flavor (NOT) I am sorry to say my old favorite is gone and remembered why I go elsewhere, I miss the Kicos's of old. I was hoping to give a good review and sorry I can not anymoreMore

You might notice some booth renovations going on among the normal hustle and bustle of fast service and excellent food prep and presentation. Cold beer and giant margaritas. This family run business is always friendly and inviting. Rumor has it that some new craft beers...will be coming soon with the renovations and updates. Put your vote in early for your favorites or maybe we can support some rotating handles.More
