Vacationing from East & found restaurant online. Delicious food at a great price. It doesn't get more local than this. Will always remember this meal as an unexpected trip highlight. They really don't take credit cards & it really is worth extra trip to ATM.

Ate lunch here for the first time today. Hungarian food. Had the meatball and Spaetzle pasta special. My mom had the chicken. Just the right amount of food with a couple slices of nice french bread for $7.25 a plate! I like the delicate flavors...and that they do not over spice their offerings. The meatballs were unusually light and mild. The roasted chicken, falling off the bone. I have never tried "spaetzle" which is a pasta. Excellent! The restrooms were spotless and just like a nice home bathroom; not industrial. It is clear they take great pride in their business. You can also look into the kitchen while you eat. That says a lot about quality in itself. Very small with only a half dozen tables plus one on the sidewalk. Service was speedy and to the point. This is my new "regular" lunch stop when I want comfort food.More

Wonderful food, great ambiance, super affordable. Homemade all the way, very comforting! ! No bells or whistles but I'm coming back... Sometimes you just want food that's good all in its own! ! And the accents? Very European and charming. And listening to Adelweiss on...the background? Just aged to how special this place is :-)More

Owned by an immigrant couple, the husband does the cooking, the wife waits tables. This is the food I grew up on and it tastes exactly like my granny's. Over the years, I have tasted everything on the menu and it's all superb. This is...my go-to place for lunch. Also open for dinner on weekends. You can't beat the price.More

I reside 150 miles from Sacramento but always stop at Cafe Marika when i go through town. Quaint little mom and pop restaurant with real old fashioned European charm. If you are not familiar with Hungarian food try the combination plate with chicken paprikash and...beef goulash. Make sure to save room for the strudelMore

This little gem is a husband and wife enterprise and has but a few tables, but don't let the tiny size cause you to overlook the deliciousness that lies within. There's lovely spaetzle, paprikase, and goulash. I usually order a combination because I can't commit...to a single favorite. You're going to like it, too!More

The schnitzel is as good it gets! The only drawback to the place is that they only accept cash. I was the birthday boy and I was the only one who carried cash so I wound up paying! LOL.

We love eating at Cafe Marika and go there every chance we get. We took our friends there for Saturday dinner. You feel like you are eating in their dining room at home. Since there are only 5 or 6 tables you need to make...reservations. They serve Eastern European food, with heavy influences from Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. My favorite is the breaded pork fillets, pan fried, served with bohemian potato salad or, if you prefer, spaetzle - home made pasta for $13.75. All dinners include soup (I had Sauerkraut soup, which was awesome), or salad, entree, dinner roll with butter and dessert - Apple Strudel. All in all awesome dinner again. We love Cafe Marika.More

Its a super small café with the owners running the place for years. You have to get there early or forget it. But be prepared for authentic Hungarian food. It is consistently good and includes a small dessert with your meal.

I've been wanting to try this spot since walking by it years ago, but the timing has never matched their hours (Lunch M-F, dinner Thu-Sat only). It is tiny - 5 tables seating 2-4 and 4 counter spaces. They feature a small menu of 5-6...entrees, all classical Hungarian dishes. My fiancé and I share birthdays only a few days apart and we selected Cafe Marika to enjoy a dinner out. We brought our own wine and we're delighted with the tiny $8 corkage fee. In house drinking options include beers at very reasonable prices, and modestly priced red and white wines by the glass or bottle, the latter being priced at $17. The food quality was excellent- and featured generous portions with all dinners ranging from $13-$17, including soup or salad AND dessert. It's not pretentious - just a cozy spot where "Dad" cooks and "Mom" serves traditional comfort food from Hungary. I highly recommend this establishment for an intimate meal.More
