Gluten friendly!

Fellow Celiacs, Zocalo doesn't fry anything with gluten in the frier that they use for their chips. Yay we can have chips and salsa! I've dined here many times with no issues. I still ask every time just to be safe. They have good ceviche and I love their guac and blackberry margarita. Fun date... read more

We keep returning to this attractive, buzzing restaurant (and its Roseville sister) because it never, never disappoints! Alas, I cannot break my habit of ordering the cochinita pibil every time...because it is just so very, very good that I can't resist! I should say, however, that everyone at the table has loved whatever they have ordered every (friends, family) visit.... More

WE met here as it was brother's choice for his birthday. The menu selections were eclectic and all seemed to be good. The portions are huge, my wife and I shared a dinner and still couldn't finish all the food.

As others have pointed out, the food is not cheap, but everything is prepared with quality ingredients and has a lot of flavor. Zocalo offers more than just your basic Mexican menu. For example, you can order Pozole Rojo, or Guanajo, or Tacos de Cazuela. We were a party of 11 or 12, arrived a little late on a Thursday... More

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento! I love their mole so much I think I'm addicted to it. It's authentic dark red mole better than any other I have had north of the border. I've tried their tacos also and they are pretty good but it seems they are a bit overpriced... I'm accustomed to great street tacos... More

Add this restaurant to your bucket list! Zocalo is one of my favorite midtown eats. The food quality and flavor is exceptional, the restaurant is architecturally gorgeous, and the service is great. We were surprised with a free sample of an appetizer and an extra drink---- in addition to the food/beverage we ordered!

My wife and I visited Zocalo on a Friday evening recently and unfortunately the place was packed due to it being a Friday night and a soccer match on the big screen TV's. Since the place has high ceilings and a concrete floor, the noise level was so bad, we could bearly hear each other talk. That being said, the... More

The food, especially the apps were great. Our waiter was great as well, but we never saw him. He recommended a mescal margarita off the menu and it was great. We waited an hour before he actually took our appetizer order. It was not his fault. We could tell they were short staffed. Not good for such a big restaurant.

Very nice restaurant with attention to details. The restaurant has patio seating and a large bar. Food is good and unique. The service was very good the night we were there. Food was reasonably priced. I heard the margaritas were very good but we did not have one. I will go back and recommend this restaurant. It's pretty enough for... More
