Gosh, the first time I went to the Tea Cup Cafe (sometimes referred to as the Tea Cup House) was over fifty years ago; right after it opened. It really hasn’t changed that much. The menu is, what I refer to as, typical ‘American Chinese’....It’s good and satisfying but not competitive in today’s very creative and diversified restaurant scene in Sacramento. The interior is clean, austere, unimaginative and reminiscence of Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong fifth years ago where the emphasis was on the great food and not the environment. We enjoyed our meals but my very picky partner complained about the size of the baby bok-choy in his dish, which was hard to eat with either chop sticks or knife and fork. He commented “this is more like tough, obnoxious adolescent bok-choy than tender baby-bok choy”.More

This is the best Dim Sum I have ever had! OK, this is the only Dim Sum I have ever had, but it was very good so it was a great introduction to the world of Dim Sum. The restaurant was nice and our very...large group was seated at a large round table with a lazy Susan in the middle to help facilitate our sharing of delicacies. We were greeted and seated and were given menus to review while waiting for the rest of our party. The menus are extensive and the English descriptions are very helpful We all ordered a variety of items that looked good, took recommendations from members of our group more experienced in Dim Sum and I think, maybe order a few random things because they looked interesting. I really enjoyed the PotStickers, Barbecue Pork Buns, Shrimp Dumpling, and the Chinese Sticky Rice. Great spot.More

We chose the dim sum from photos on a card. Next, we marked our selections on the bill. The dim sum was very tasty. The prices were reasonable. It was very popular on Sunday afternoon, but we found seating. The decor is not too exciting,...but there is a very pretty fish tank near the front of the restaurant. The restroom was clean and well stocked.More

My family traveled together for two weeks in Toronto, Mississauga, Sacramento, and San Francisco. As most of us in the family are foodies, i.e. we know about the restaurants to go to in every city, we went to several notable ones including Susur Lee in...Toronto, the Firehouse in Sacramento, and Gary Danko in San Francisco. However, there was not one meal that satisfied my Mom more than the lunch we had at Tea Cup House. The taste of the dishes were authentic and familiar; we are Chinese. And the best part of it -- the price was reasonable. I wouldn't mind going more often to this restaurant, but then, I doubt I'd be visiting Sacramento again. I am surprised Tea Cup House doesn't have a higher rating on Trip Advisor.More

I have been here a number of times and have ordered delivery service and each time enjoyed my meal. Dim sum is fun with a group and we have had an informal business dinner here as well. It has a BYOB policy that makes it...attractive. I recommend this one.More

I finally got there the right time for dim sum. Pork buns surprised me -- two for $3.50, each was the size of a large hamburger bun, a scoop of BBQ pork inside Hawaiian sweet bread -- that was a good deal for the price!...Tea Cup now delivers.More

I have been to this restaurant many times over the past 20 years and it is always the best. I had the won ton soup and it was a huge bowl of greatness. The dim sum dishes were very good, especially the pot stickers that...were fried just right. The baked bao was also tasty. This is one of my favorite destinations when visiting Sacramento!More

This is one of my neighborhood's Chinese food restaurant. I am looking for someplace that is very tasty as my go to place. We ordered our favorites. The house chow mein and the pork mu shu was very tasty. The other dishes were just okay....We picked up our order to eat at home. If you stay in the restaurant expect a pleasant cafe-like space. There were a lot of kids when I was there.More

This is not a fancy restaurant but has most of the traditional CChinese dishes. The dim sum was average. I was expecting more authentic dim sum dishes. The daikon cake 蘿卜糕, however, was very good, that we bought extra uncooked cake to take home. Another...good dish is the sponge cake, 馬拉糕。The others were average.More

Tea Cup Cafe is a small hole-in-the-wall Chinese food and dim sum restaurant. Their food is delicious, and their portions are very large for a reasonable price. I recommend the lunch combos listed on their blackboard near the cashier. My husband and I usually get...Combo A and Combo B. It comes with soup, fried rice, chow mein, and two entrees. One combo is Honey Walnut Shrimp/General Chicken, and the other is Honey Walnut Shrimp/Sesame Chicken. The decor is nothing trendy or special. However, I still would not hesitate recommending this for someone to take a date to, just because the food is so good.More
