Awful! Not only do they not have air conditioning the fans barely work! It was 100 degrees outside but I think it was worse inside. We should have left. It was memorial weekend and didn’t think we’d find anywhere else... big mistake the food and...service were not good! I ended up with stomach distress to put it nicely!More

A wonderful recommendation from a nearby merchant. Right on Sacramento River, between the 2 bridges. A scrumptious lunch menu, with great selection of wine and local beer on tap. Highly recommend the flatbread; all choices looked great. Very gracious staff—thank you to Catherine.

Hard to believe that it has been 2 years since we were last here. This time we were looking for a safe place to eat lunch during the pandemic. Due to reduced capacity, the wait time was 35 minutes. We were seated at a table...for two away from other diners and just out of the traffic pattern between preparation areas and the patio dining area. I am disappointed that I did not catch our waiter’s name because he was very good. I wanted a burger and the Rio Burger exceeded my expectations. I ate my fries too quickly to find out if they pass the good-when-cold test. I stole a few of my wife’s fries; they are good when cold. It looked to me that Rio City Cafe is doing a good job of keeping patrons and staff safe during the pandemic. We hope to return here in the not too distant future.More

Called ahead to make a 2 pm reservation, park free across river, enjoy a great lunch on the river watching the boat traffic and a few sea lions. Margarita hit hard, and the jambalaya was yummy (Donelle made sure to keep it the amount of...chicken under control and get more sausage and shrimp). Manager moved us to a nicer table with no fuss too!More

We went for lunch, and were not disappointed! During this HOT (100+-degree days) time, nothing like getting by the water and sipping a cold beverage!! With this kind of weather, we went for salads - The Asian Chicken and the Cesar - Both good! Service...good! Setting GREAT!!More

I didn’t have a reservation, but the waitress got us in right away with a good table. We asked how much the Cadillac Margarita was since the price wasn’t listed on the paper menu. She said $9 we were charged $12 it had way to...much sweet and sour. We split the Crab/shrimp Louie way too much salad dressing and we got charged another $5.00 split plate not on the menu either or mentioned by the waitress. Our waitress was very efficient otherwise. I wasn’t impressed with the place and don’t think I’ll eat there again. I would go to Joe’s or the Delta King right next door. Service People Super Great thou!!!More

We tend to try and make a brunch/lunch visit here an annual event as we head from Tahoe via Sacramento to SFO and back home. It was a beautiful sunny day and we easily had our request fulfilled for a table in the sunshine on...the deck overlooking the American River. As it was a Monday, the place was not very busy and so seating was immediate and easy. The only slight blemish on the experience was the table behind us where two ladies, one of whom had two well-behaved toddlers, were seated. They seemed to be having a loud conversation that ranged from discussing Income Tax and the IRS to pregnancy and relationships. Two things made us smile (and frankly guffaw once they had left: 1. Every second word in their conversation was punctuated with "like". Where does that come from? Is it taught in school? 2. The mother admonished the little boy who became a bit excitable for 5 seconds, not longer after she had fed him some candy by saying "don't use your outside voice". This from his mother who was speaking a few decibels above ear-bleed level for much of our lunch! Anyway, back to the food.... My wife and I both ordered the Clam Chowder to start; she the cup and me the bowl . We finished both, which were excellent, but the bowl is HUGE. For mains she had the Crab Melt and I had Oriental Chicken Salad. Again, both were excellent. Only slight complaint (and I've said this before) is why can't the restaurant wait into you have finished the starters before delivering the main courses? Anyway, if we are back in Sacramento, we are most likely to be back.More

They have Valet parking but there is plenty of parking lot space across the road. Pricing for the menu I would consider to be moderate for what you get.
