Stop by for drinks with friends after boating and fishing, great place to feel the delta vibe, The bartender served our drinks promptly and chatted with us about the local fishing holes.

We came to Rio Vista just to see the place. The downtown is nice: it's clean, old western, located just on gorgeous Sacramento river. We came to Foster's Bighorn restaurant because we red some historical paperl. We came in and we stay astonishing looking around. All walls in this pretty big three rooms place are covered with taxiderms. There are... More

Foster's Bighorn in Rio Vista is a great local restaurant with a tremendous history of wild game. The original owner, Bill Foster put together this collection of wild game of over 300 animals, birds and fish. Some of this more remarkable items is an African Elephant with a 13 foot long trunk and two tusks over 5 ft. long. this... More

We visited Rio Vista and had lunch at Foster’s Big Horn restaurant. Quaint with lots of atmosphere. The bar and restaurant are filled with big game adventure animals (mounted), photographs and memorabilia from Bill Foster’s adventures in Africa in the 1920’s and later – fascinating. We had the special of the day – grilled salmon which was excellent followed by... More

Not all of California’s water fronts are of the coast. There are many river and lake fronts as well for vacationers who prefer not to drive that far West. One such town is Rio Vista (River View) off Hwy 12, west of Lodi, South of Sacramento. In downtown is “Foster’s Bighorn.” This is every bit an attraction as it is... More

Took the family out for dinner. Food was good service was promoted. It has at atmosphere that you must be accustomed to. But I love this place. Got to try their fried mushrooms.

The food was delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we brought friends the next night. Great specials. You get a lot of food, and the wine/beer prices are reasonable.

This restaurant has been a steadfast place for locals and visitors to Rio Vista for decades. Even before you get a chance to explore the menu, as you walk inside, you are immediately overwhelmed with hundreds of wild game heads and full bodies mounted on every inch of wall space. There is also a large quantity of old photos taken... More

Fabulous food. I had an Asian chicken salad. The menu did have choices that I would rather have eaten (bison burger, pulled pork sandwich, etc) The decor may be offensive toward some, hey not to me.. I found it extremely interesting and unique. I will come back
